Hi all,
we are just planning our travel through Scandinavia.
We already made an interrail trip through western europe 2 years ago (14 days).
I will upload the current route as attachment.
At the top you can see the days (16 days). On the bottom you can see where we would like to sleep.
Sometimes on boat: Nachtfähre
Sometime on train: Nachtzug
The first green space is Inlandsbanan in Sweden.
The second green space is Norway in a Nutshell.
We start in Helsinki and will go there by plane.
Do you think its makeable?
Do you think its too tough?
Any opinion appreciated.
Thank you in advance
Best Regards

Not sure how it fits in your schedule, but why not use the free (reservation night train, 4 euro) route Helsinki-Stockholm via Kemi/Haparanda/Lulea

Hi!
The route absolutely is doable, I did a similar trip (excluding Finland but including Lofoten) in a comparable timeframe back in 2010. It could be a bit exhausting though as you are planning on visiting a lot of places in not too much time.
Some remarks:
The Turku - Stockholm route is fantastic, if you have time, I'd travel there during the day (although in summer days are looong so you'll be fine overnight too). Have you considered taking the Helsinki - Stockholm overnight ferry?
You could save one day/night by skipping the Mora - Östersund part of Inlandsbana and travel Stockholm - Östersund by night train to continue towards Gällivare in the morning.
We did so on our trip so I cant tell if you'd miss a lot on the southern part of Inlandsbana.
Gällivare - Narvik: https://rail.cc/blog/the-iron-ore-line-from-lulea-to-narvik/
Are you planning on doing anything in Bodo? Saltsstraumen maybe? If not, I'd travel from Narvik to Fauske only and get the night train to Trondheim straightaway. That way you would gain one extra day you could spend somewhere else.

Hi,
thank you very much for your detailed advice.
We want to visit Turku since it was the capital of Finland and will take the fery overnight because we want to safe time.
If we take the direct connection to Östersund we will save some time. We will think about it.
In Bodo we would like to see the Saltstraumen and since I'm a very interested in the 2nd WW we think about a stop in Norsk Luftfartsmuseum. :D
Do you remember how many days you have spend at the different locations (e.g. Oslo and Bergen)?
We don't know if one day will enough especially for Oslo. (we heard from friends its such a wonderful city)
Thank you in advance

Hi,
we already checked this route per train but its costs too much time.
I think I need more vacation. ;)
Thank you anyway

Alright, if you have specific reasons to go to Turku and Bodo, then all is fine :D
Personally I didnt find Oslo that interesting - we spent there just one day in 2010 and again one day in 2013...but you may experience the city differently. ;)
In Bergen we spent just one day too on each trip - this was mainly due to time restraints, but I guess that you wouldnt need more than two days to see everything there. All the main attractions can be done during one day by foot, only if you want to go up to Floyen an extra day could be interesting IMO.
