Hi, essentially the title says it all.

That's my route I've spent all of tonight planning out for me and my girlfriend to take using our 10 in 22 days pass from the 11th of July to the 1st of August I believe on the top of my head. The plan is to get a flight from London to Split on the 10th then interrail that route with the interrail pass from the 11th onward before heading back up north to Amsterdam and returning home. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on maybe somewhere else I should go as an alternative to one of my destinations or whether it's do-able and seems like a good plan.

I've got a pretty good idea of train times and things but will defiantly have to double check it all tomorrow when I'm feeling less tired in case I've miss read anything, but you all will probably know better than me. I've made a rough estimate of times with links I can post in here too if people want to see them. I just want to get it all planned out as well as I can beforehand because my girlfriend tends to worry if she can't see a list of everything for her to follow so any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hi!

I dont see any problems with your route; however there will be some amendments to the Interrail Global Pass offer in 2016: the validity period of the 10in22 will be extended to one month so you would have more time to complete your trip; you could also think of doing the trip with the 5in15 pass (the validity of the 5in10 will be extended to 15 days) to cover all trips from Bled to Amsterdam and do the remaining trips by single tickets bought locally - this could work out cheaper overall. If you prefer to go with the 10in1month you could think about adding some extra stops along the route (you should have two travel days remaining).

You'll need a reservation for Split - Zagreb if you travel during the day; all other trips can be done without a reservation. :)

You may also have a look at Plitvice lakes (accesible by bus from both Split and Zagreb; I'd recommend a day trip from Zagreb); Salzkammergut (Bad Goisern, Hallstatt, Bad Ischl, Bad Aussee) as a day trip from Salzburg.
In Switzerland you could include one of the famous mountan railways, for instance Bernina Railway: https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/ or the Glacier Express Route.
From Luzern you could make a trip to Rigi: https://rail.cc/blog/lucerne-and-mount-rigi/
In between Luzern and Amsterdam you could make a stop in Strasbourg or Luxembourg or travel through the Rhine Valley in Germany.

Thank you! :)

Hi,

Thank you for the quick and detailed response, it's my first time doing anything like this so I'm going to need all the help I can get but with the amendments to the interrail pass, will it still remain the same price? Just I noticed there's the current 15% off deal on the interrail tickets currently and I was actually going to buy them today but if the pass is to be made longer then I'm not sure if it would be better for me to wait till they do make the changes then order it? Or will the amendments take into effect on all tickets that start after a certain date?

But I just had a look at a few of the places you recommended and they look amazing, I'll make sure to check them out on my journey and will take your advice and order the single train tickets until we reach Bled, I want to make the trip as cheap as possible since my max budget is £1300 but this may be one of the last times I can do a trip like this so want to see as much as possible.

2016 prices:
5in15 = 200€
7in1month = 246€
10in1month = 292€
15in1month = 361€

Unfortunately I dont know yet about promotion dates and rates in 2016.

Split - Zagreb is 27€; Zagreb - Ljubljana is 17,80€

I'm assuming these are 2nd class ticket prices? But as long as your confident the changes to the tickets will be made well in advance for me to order them and have them arrive before July I think I'll wait to order them.

As to the single tickets, is there a website you recommended for me to order them on? Just I've tried to use the ACP Rail website connected to https://rail.cc/en/train/split-to-zagreb but whether I try find tickets from split to zagreb or zagreb to ljubljana all I seem to get is no product match on my dates.

Yeah, these are the 2016 full fare prices for 2nd class youth passes.

And I forgot that you want to travel in July - the latest possible starting date for passes bought with the current 15% promo is 29 March so it wouldnt suit your plans anyway.
During the summer months it is unlikey that there will be any promotion; during the last years there were discounts available in spring, autumn and around christmas.

Buy the Split - Zagreb and Zagreb - Ljubljana tickets locally.

Ahhhh I didn't now that, oh well guess it means I have plenty of time to wait before I need to start paying for things but thank you. Who knew planning a holiday could be this hard haha.

No doubt I'll have more questions closer to the time but I really appreciate the help you've given me.
