Hello, I need to take the night train from Budapest from Bucharest. I'm confused about the best and cheapest place to book my ticket.. Reading reviews it seems to be at Budapest station is this correct.
Secondly it mentions tickets are cheaper with a rail pass, what is this rail pass? Is this something I buy at Budapest? I am only doing one train journey.
Thanks for any help

Hi!

There are two direct night trains from Budapest to Bucharest:
https://rail.cc/en/night-train/budapest-bucharest-en-473/120
https://rail.cc/en/night-train/vienna-bucharest-en-347/50

You can buy special advance fares Fortuna online from the website of Hungarian Railway MAV at [ux]https://rail.shop/mav[/ux] - these tickets have to be collected at a ticket machine at a station in Hungary.
You can also buy tickets locally at a train station in Hungary.
