I wanted to ask fellow travellers and interrailers about my planned route around Europe. I will be travelling next year, probably around June as a solo female traveller. I plan to go through 6 countries- Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and finally Italy.

As of now, my route is this:
(GERMANY)Berlin → Frankfurt → Munich → (CZECH REP) Prague → Brno → (AUSTRIA) Vienna → Salzburg → (SLOVENIA) Bled → Ljubljana → (CROATIA) Zagreb → Split → Dubrovnik
(FLIGHT TO ITALY) Naples → Rome → Florence → Venice

I have several questions that I hope you experienced travellers will be able to help me with.

Is June a good or bad time to be going? I picked June based on the fact that in all 6 countries, the weather averages are good. I’m pretty flexible regarding what month I leave, but obviously I’d like good weather. Is there a better month than June?

I am not limited in terms of time, but I also don’t want to be gone for months and months. Ideally, I don’t want to be away for more than 6-8 weeks. However, I don’t want to be blitzing through countries at a rocket pace and come back home feeling like I haven’t experienced any of the countries I’ve visited. Is 6-8 weeks achievable for the route I have, or do I need more time? Of the countries/cities I have listed, which ones do you recommend I spend less/more time in?

Are any of the countries/cities I have listed particularly dangerous for solo female travellers? I’m considering having some company through Italy.

This is very much still in the planning process so any advice/words of wisdom would be much appreciated. Once I have a set route and timeframe, I can start properly planning and more importantly, budgeting!

Thanks in advance.

Hi cheesecrackers.
Still a long time until you start. :)
The countries and cities you selected are not more or less dangerous for a solo female traveler than London. You always meet other travelers in hostels which you can join in the evening to go out. Also there are everywhere guided pub crawls and other activities.
Finally your route depends (and the time you spent on one place) on the time you have in total. Use for example the Interrail pass ONE MONTH ( https://rail.cc/en/interrail-global-pass ) for your main trip, then add ad the end (or the beginning) longer stops - which you could do with normal point to point tickets.
London-Netherlands by rail&sail: https://rail.cc/blog/from-london-to-amsterdam-with-the-dutchflyer/
I personally would skip Frankfurt in Germany: https://rail.cc/en/frankfurt-am-main/c
Include other places like Cologne/Düsseldorf, Hamburg ( https://rail.cc/en/hamburg/c ), Heidelberg, Dresden ( https://rail.cc/en/dresden/c ).
Then via Czech Republic, Prague ( https://rail.cc/en/prague/c ) to Krakow ( https://rail.cc/en/krakow/c ) and on to Budapest ( https://rail.cc/en/budapest/c ). Also places more in the East like Belgrade are very interesting. Then Austria, Switzerland:

On to Italy... and finally end up with Bled, Ljubljana, Zagreb and Croatia.
