Hello,
I want to book a night train for 2 people in January, from Gothenburg to Lulea,
and also a return journey at the very beginning of February.
Does anyone know how far in advance I can book? The train sites themselves don't seem to have any timetables this far ahead - does this mean the timetables are liable to change? Or the prices?
I have found the tickets available in the next few months, and the prices seem to be hugely different between those listed on this website, and those on, for example, SJ's website.
Is there a way to take advantage of the special offer prices as listed on this site?
Thanks in advance!!
Ellie :)

Hi Ellie.
Usually train ticket booking is possible three months in advance. Sweden is a bit special in the positive way. Advance booking time is usually much longer. I suppose you will be able to buy them on from October. Just try from time to time. Schedules and prices won't change that much. You can calculate with the values you have for now. :)
Booking is possible via [ux]https://rail.shop/sj[/ux] (to support the free information we offer here) or SJ directly.

Hi Pete,
Thanks for your reply! That was extremely quick! :)
Ok, so I'll just keep checking back until it lets me book then. Also, the prices listed on this website for the trip I want to go on, say 375sek for a 2nd class ticket, but when I go to the SJ site (through the partner link) it says this trip is over 950sek for 2nd class. Is this an outdated price featured here?
And - if a 2nd class compartment is for 3 people, does this mean we will be booked in with a 3rd person? (This is not a problem, we are used to hostels - we are poor haha, I'd just like to know!)
Thanks again!
Ellie

Hi Ellie.
Theses prices are for rail pass travelers (Interrail/Eurail) - the reservation fee they have to pay.
Thanks for the hint, I have to program it an other way so that they are not shown in the point to point ticket overview.

3 persons is always a sleeper-and sleepers are separated in male and female. If demand is high-then yes, they will all be filled.
The couchette (liggevogn in Svenska) is 4 or 6 bed and mixed sex. The old idea was, that you only lie down with clothes on in them, so that prudency was not distorted.
