Hello,

I am planning on travelling from Barcelona to Rome in September and I'm considering alternative ways to do this.

I think my best shot is the overnight ferry from Barcelona to Civitavecchia - am I able to reserve this through rail.cc? Would the journey from Civitavecchia to Rome be classified as part of the same 'travel day' as the ferry journey?

Any other alternatives would be considered!

Thanks in advance for all your help,

Lee

Hi Lee!

The Barcelona - Civitavecchia ferry is operated by Grimaldi Lines and a 20% discount is granted for IR pass holders. Information about the ferry and how to get the discount: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-ferry/barcelona-civitavecchia/23

You do not need a travel day for using the ferry as you only get a discount. Only for the train trip from Civitavecchia to Rome a travel day is needed - however, if you are travelling with a flexi pass you could think of just buying a regular ticket for a regional train which is only 5€.

Thanks for supporting railcc. ;)
