Hi,

My girlfriend and I are planning on buying the Interrail 10 days in 22 days ticket to use for late July/August.
At the moment we intend on flying from the UK to Berlin and then heading South through Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. From there we want to visit Zagreb, Plitvice Lakes, Lake Bled before heading to Trieste/Venice.

From what we’ve read online, it sounds as if Zagreb to Plitvice to Bled is quite a difficult route. Do you have any recommendations on how we would do this? We are willing to sacrifice Lake Bled, but we are really keen to see Plitvice.

Thanks for your help!

Hi!

The only sensible option to get to Plitvice is by bus - there are frequent buses from Zagreb (and other cities in Croatia).
You can either make a day trip or book accomodation at the national park and spend a night there. Then back to Zagreb and onwards to Ljubljana - Bled - Gorizia/Trieste/Venezia.

We are official partners of interrail.eu - to support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

Thanks for your reply!

I think a day trip to Plitvice sounds like a good option. Do you know if one day will be enough there?

And, we'll make sure to book through that link as this website has been really useful for our research so far.

I've never been to Plitvice - I would assume that you can see the basic things within one day though. Since you are doing a rail trip and should try to get the most out of your travel days I would also think that it is sufficient to just spend one day there and then continue by rail. :)

Thanks for supporting! :)
