I left my decoder ring at home and can't figure out the booking info for the night train from Salzburg to Venice. Some sites, like eurail.com, state that Euro Night trains have a Deluxe Double Sleeper with shower and WC like the Munich to Venice City Night Line but the OBB doesn't mention or offer it for reservation--I just see the double with wash basin. Anyone out there ever reserved a sleeper on the EN 237? Alternatively, can I catch the Munich to Venice City Night line in Salzburg? It goes through there but I can't tell if it stops.

Hi!

Salzburg is a hub for a number of night trains. There, several trains meet and portions for different destinations are shunted between trains.

There are two trains with destination Venice: Vienna - Salzburg - Venice (EN) and Munich - Salzburg - Venice (CNL). The train from Munich has no public stop there though which means that you cannot book tickets or reservations for this train in the direction of Venice. This is only possible for the train from Vienna.

The train from Vienna to Venice via Salzburg has a sleeper carriage that offers both Economy (1/2 beds with washbasin) and Deluxe (1/2/3 bed with ensuite shower+WC); during peak season another carriage with 1/2/3 bed economy cabins is added.
You can book reservations for Deluxe cabins from Salzburg to Venice; however as there are only two such Deluxe cabins on each train they can be booked well in advance, especially during peak season.
ÖBB sells these online, but only tickets including the reservation, they do not sell reservations only for passholders. This is not possible online as far as I know.

To support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Eurail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/eurail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

Thanks! I am booking for September 25 and have been checking and checking for the tickets to become available. They are available now but there is no option for deluxe so I will assume the option doesn't show up because they are taken? It's like trying to get tickets to a Prince concert! I didn't get those either...they sold out in 3 minutes.

So you are just looking for a single ticket and do not need a reservation for Eurail? Booking for ÖBB EN trains is opend 180 days in advance.
It could well be that the two Deluxe cabins on that date are already booked. I checked a couple of other dates and there would be Deluxe accomodation available for instance on 21 September as well as on 26 September (although only a three-bed cabin).

Hi.
I don't know what's your overall route in Europe looks like. But if could rearrange it a little bit and start your journey on 25 September from Munich to Venice by overnight train, you still get deluxe sleeper cabins (and a longer sleep).

Buy your point to point ticket Munich to Venice here: https://rail.shop/bahn/Munich-Hbf/Venezia/2300/2509

How to buy a reservation for Eurail (follow the instructions in the blue box): https://rail.cc/en/eurail-night-train/munich-venice-cnl40463/37

Thanks! I had considered the Munich route but was worried that the train station in Munich during Oktoberfest would be rowdy at midnight. And it seemed counter-productive to ride north for an hour and a half just for a private WC. But I may just do that! Your help has been much appreciated. Have a good evening.
