Hallo,

I would like to interrail in september. 10 days, from 09/09 until 18/09
I start in Belgium in Gent, then visit Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague and Wien. Is that possible too do that with the interrail pass 10 in 5 days? I would olso like to travel from Wien to Bern with the nighttrain, because in Bern there is a train straight to Brussels. I like to avoid extra payment on HST lines.
And how long would you stay in the cities?

Ben

PS: this is my first post.

Hi Ben!

It is no problem to do that trip with the 5in10 ticket, however you would need to cover either Gent - Amsterdam or Bern - Gent with a regular ticket as you would not have enough travel days to cover all your trips. I would recommend to buy a regular ticket for Gent - Amsterdam via https://rail.shop/sncb as this is likely to be the cheaper option.

Amsterdam - Berlin - Prague - Wien can be easily done with regular day trains which usually run every two hours and do not require a reservation.
From Wien, take the night train to Zürich and then continue to Bern. If you have time, I would recommend to travel the scenic route from Zürich via Luzern - Meiringen - Interlaken: this would require more time but is also free of extra reservations and you would also see quite a bit of the scenic Swiss landscape. :)

There is no direct train from Bern to Bruxelles, you would have to go to Basel first and then catch a train via Strasbourg and Luxembourg to Bruxelles. Dont forget that you would also need a ticket to cover the last bit of travel within Belgium as Interrail is not valid in your country of residence.

If you buy a regular ticket for Gent - Amsterdam you could extend your trip a little and only start your Interrail ticket the day you leave from Amsterdam.
Overall, two days in each city should be just fine.

Thank you! :)

I have made a little mistake. I wanted to go to Basel and not Bern

Alright then. :)
If you want, you could still make the detour via Bern to visit the city for a few hours - it is really nice too.
