Hello,

I will be InterRailing around Europe in September and have just reserved a ticket between Paris and Barcelona. I am going to buy a 2nd class InterRail ticket (via [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] of course), but the reservation I just made was in first class.

Is this reservation valid (i.e. 1st class seat on a train with a 2nd class InterRail ticket)?

If so - will I be able to sit in first class or will I need to sit in second class?
If the reservation isn't valid will I need to amend the booking?

Thanks in advance!

Lee

Hi!

I assume you bought your reservation via [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf/reservation[/ux]?
Unfortunately, a 1st class reservation is only valid in combination with a 1st class ticket and vice versa. If you are going to travel with a 2nd class pass you cannot use your reservation and would have to contact the website where you got your reservation from to see if there is a possibility for exchange/refund.

Hi.
Also on the route Paris-Barcelona you have some more nice options, instead of the direct TGV. For example French night train to the South, Petit Train Jaune: https://rail.cc/blog/little-yellow-train-video/

Thank you for replying!

I did indeed use rail.cc for my reservation - it's my go-to point for my InterRail queries. I will also be buying my pass from here next month as well.

I have a question about reservations for the ferry from Barcelona to Citiavecchia but will start a new conversation as it may help other travellers!

Thanks again,

Lee
