Hi all,

I am currently trying to book a reservation on Railjet to Budapest, but Voyages SNCF is only allowing me to book the reservation to Kelenfold station. The main station appears to be Keleti, which is futher down the line than Kelenfold. Can I go ahead and book the ticket and alight at Keleti, or should I use a different service?

Many thanks

Hi!

Yeah, you can of course book to Kelenföld and then stay on the train until Keleti (or get off at Kelenföld already and go into town with metro 4, depending on your destination).
However, reservation on Railjet is only compulsory for domestic journeys within Hungary, so I would not bother getting one anyway. Or if you want, you could also book one at a train station in Germany, Austria,...
What kind of ticket do you have?

Thanks for the quick response!

There is conflicting information about this. According to the Eurail timetable a reservation is compulsory for part of the journey. I've got a first class interrail pass, and its a long journey so I'd rather have a seat in any case I think...

Another query: I have a first class pass but to save money I have booked 2nd class reservations on the TGV from Paris to Munich. Will this be OK?

Thanks

Yeah, well, that information is wrong. Reservation is only compulsory for domestic journeys in Hungary.

If you want to reserve, you can do so and get the reservation to Kelenföld only, no problem. But in you enter the train in Munich there should be enough free seats normally (but better safe than sorry). ;)

Yes, you can travel on 2nd class with a 1st class pass. You will miss out on the complimentary food though.

I hope you purchased your ticket through our partner link with interrail.eu: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] ;)
