Our accommodation is near Nyugati and Keleti stations and we are coming from Belgrade, but we would like to get the direct train to Köbanya-Kispest as it is also shorter however this train station is a fair bit further from our hotel. Is there anyway the pass can be used to hop on a domestic train from kipest to keleti? or is it easier just to get on the metro?

There are no trains to Keleti, but a number of services to Nyugati which you of course could use with your pass.
The EC from Belgrade arrives at Kobanya-Kispest at 1545, the next local service is at 1606, arriving at Nyugati at 1622. Note that there would be also IC services to Nyugati but these require a reservation.
