My friend and i have decided to go inter railing during the month of july. We currently are debating wether or not we should reserve the train (some of them are night trains) as we think they are costing too much (£155) this is making us think that we have spent a great deal of money before we have even began the trip. We are using the same website we used to look at train times as we did to book the actual inter rail ticket which is: interrail.eu (I don't know if you're allowed to post links in this forum so i apologise in advance if you are not)

The destinations we will be going to are: Madrid, Barcelona, paris, Munich, Rome, Venice, Zagreb, Budapest, krakow, Prague, Berlin and Amsterdam.

Please any tips will be greatly appreciated as we haven't done anything like this before. :D

Hi!

Did you use our partner link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] to buy your tickets?
If not, you should directly ask for support where you bought your tickets.

Anyway, you can find a comprehensive list of reservation fares here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

The main source of that is/looks exp. is that you choose a route to your idea-and including some of the most expensive extra's AND also in the summer main season when its often near imposs to even get those REServations. Alltogether a tipical Brit false idea. Smarter people first look at the facts and then contruct a routing.
Spend more time on this one and scroll down and DO read the various country sections, where the lads doing this site have detailed various options-incl some slower ones without even any need to REServe (note that this is near impossible in France=also the main stumbleblock).
However as Brit you gain as the GBP is far too high and thus EUR fares look cheaper anyway-also abou any spending on this ''continent''.

Well, if you did not use our partner link you should ask directly at the site where you purchased your ticket.
You can also look up reservation fares in our overview: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
There is also a number of example connections with/without reservations listed: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
