Hi everyone :)
I am currently planning a Interrail trip with my girlfriend for this summer, but we are not sure what would be the best thing to do at the end of our journey.
As of now, We are doing Copenhagen-Berlin-Prague-Vienna-Bratislava-Budapest-Ljubljana-Lake Bled
We are not sure how to continue it.
We were thinking of going through Switzerland and end in Italy, in Milan. In Switzerland, visit Zurich and Bern for example, and go through some scenic railtrips.
So I would like to have your advice on this :)
What do you think of it ? Is there a more interesting itinerary to follow ? Or if this is a good idea, what would be the best route to follow to make the best out of it ?
I can't wait to that trip, and to hear your answers as well :)
Thanks !

Great to hear that you are going to travel!
Have a look at this pre-made route:
https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/
Note:
- This is a 2 day route, but I can recommend it!
- Disentis-Mustér - Brig - Zermatt is on a 50% discount, the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn.
- Please do not take the IC Zurich Brig, but the RE Basel - Chur - Kandersteg - Brig, the Lötschberger!
Have a look at the blogs as well!
My blog about Brig - Zermatt https://rail.cc/blog/brig-visp-zermatt-gornergrat/
Flows blog about Zurich - Milan via Chur in 1 day. https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/
I can recommend Luzern over all the other's as well. You may can have a look at mount Rigi as well. Than you are traveling further on via Arth-Goldau via the Gotthard and Lugano. https://rail.cc/blog/lucerne-and-mount-rigi/
Have fun planning!

Thank you for your quick answer ! :)
Your first route seems very nice ! I don't mind going through a two day trip, as we have three travel days left from Bled. What would be the end of the first day trip ? Zermatt ?
When I look at it on the Interrail Timetable, it shows me IC Zurich-Bern and then RE Bern - Thun - Kandersteg - Brig, is that the one you are talking about ?
And should we take the Glacier Express and Bernina Express or stay on the regular train (if possible) ?
In your opinion, we should go to Luzern ? More worth it than, say, Bern ?
Also, I have read about another route, and was wondering what you thought of it:
Zurich - Bern - Spiez - Kandersteg - Brig - Domodossola - Locarno - Bellinzona - Milan
I think there is the Lötschberg route you were talking about and the Centovalli pass as well :)
Thank you for everything ! The more I talk and read about it, the more excited I become about this trip !

Hi!
Your route looks good. You may think about going from Prague to Budapest overnight, then travel to Bratislava early in the morning and continue to Vienna in the evening that same day. That way you would save one travel day as well as a night in a hostel and Bratislava is not that interesting IMO.
Wouter already gave some good advice about Switzerland. Bern and Luzern are both really nice cities, it would be hard to choose for me between the two. Also, the Brünigbahn in between the two cities via Spiez - Interlaken - Meiringen is worth travelling.
Centovalli is certainly nice too, although I havent had the chance of travelling there yet.

I have no experience about the route of Domodossola - Locarno, but this should be a nice route!
Yes, the RE Bern - Thun - Kandersteg - Brig is the Lötschberger, I advise to Spiez to have a seat on the left, and via Kandersteg to Brig on the right.
I would say Luzern, but both are really nice!
Zermatt is worth it if you take a rest here yes. As well if you specially want to take the Glacier, but note this is an extra fee of 35 CHF on the 50% discount route of the MGB to Disentis.
The Bernina Express is most of the time 'including' a bus ride from Tirano towards Lugano. Some say that this bus route is very scenic, other that the quality of the roads are so bad it is not. Will be taking it this summer :) Bernina Express can be skipped in my opinion for a normal RE. The Glacier is more relaxing in my opinion, but please note that it is crowded with Chinese.
From Tirano you can take a normal train towards Milan as well.
Taking a rest around St Moritz is recommended as well.
Concluding, my trip this summer:
Arriving at Lugano from a day around Mount Rigi.
Next morning taking the Bernina Express bus and train towards St Moritz and getting a hotel at Peda.
From Preda taking the Glacier towards Zermatt, take something there. I have to say it is a bit on the high site there. Have a look at Saas Fee or Visp/Brig :) .
Last day going back to Brig and taking the Lötschberger to Bern and further to Basel.
