Hello!

My girlfriend and I are planning our first international railway adventure this summer (july). The plan is to travel around for about 3 weeks.

Stockholm-Hamburg
Hamburg-Dresden
Dresden-Vienna
Vienna-Zagreb
Zagreb-Rijeka
Rijeka-Lesce Bled
Lesce Bled-Salzburg
Salzburg-Munich (flying back home)

Is this a doable route for 3 weeks of traveling?
Should we buy an interrail pass or is it better to buy tickets along the trip? Is there a big difference in cost?
Do we need to buy tickets in advance for some of the trips (are they that popular)?

Regards Henrik

Hi Henrik!

The 10in22 Interrail pass is 374€ for adults (>26 years). You would also need to cover the bit from Stockholm to Malmö/Copenhagen as Interrail is not valid in your country of residence.
If you book regular tickets in advance it is likely that it will be cheaper than going with Interrail but you will be then fixed on a certain train and date and cannot change your schedule spontaneously.

Stockholm - Hamburg; Hamburg - Dresden and Dresden - Vienna are all available from German Railways DB at [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] - please use this link when booking as we will get a little comission. The price for your is the same of course.
Vienna - Zagreb is available from Austrian Railways at https://rail.shop/oebb
Zagreb - Rijeka - Bled buy locally; the tickets are 15€ and 32€ per person.
Bled - Salzburg should be available on the ÖBB website again
Salzburg - Munich is available from ÖBB or DB; you can also buy a cheap ticket for local trains directly at the station for 26€ for 2 persons.

Except for the trains from Denmark to Germany you can use all these trains without an extra reservation and you will always find two seats. :)

We are official partners of interrail.eu - to support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)
