Hello, my name is Hayoon Kim.

I am going to Eastern Europe on June, and I was interested in the night train that departs from
Sofia to Bucarest.
However, when I searched for it, the page said that the train is temporarily unavailable.
I am trying to take the train around June 12th.

Will the train still be unavailable then?
If not, are there other train rides that I could take, between those two places?

Also, I noticed that the price for the night train between Sofia and Bucarest is not listed.
Maybe it is because it is not available now?
Could you tell me the original pricing?

I hope you can help me out. :D

Best, Hayoon Kim.

Hi Hayoon!

The night train is discontinued and wont run in the summer. :(
If you want to travel by train, you have to take the train during the day. One way fare is ~25€. Buy the ticket locally at the station in Sofia.
Do you plan any other trips by rail?

Hello Flo!

That's a shame. I was trying to save some time to travel. Haha!

But thank you so much for the reply!

I am actually trying to move around Eastern Europe using only trains!
So this website was so useful.

I am beginning to plan my trip, so I haven't checked all the train rides between countries though. :)

Best, Hayoon Kim.

Alternatives for nite time are:
1.local BDZ=BUlgar railways train (assuming it still runs then....) to RUSE=last larger town at Donau, with bridge=border to ROM, use bus from there. Is probably cheaper too as 1 ticket all the way by train.
You must know that around early june many train times (may) change and many of the more retarded state-behemoth railways (most are, whatever they may claim) are not very fast in updating sites etc.
2.bus all the way. Do not fret too much about booking etc-just ask when there at the big new busstation besie the trains.

Man!

Just found this topic and I'm glad I did. I will be heading into Eastern Europe, going from Bulgaria to Ukraine too.

No night trains means I have to plan a plan B. Just hope I can catch the day train in time. Will I need to book in advanced?

Hello. How long are the bus journeys compared to the daytime trains? And you said it's probably cheaper? Do you have any information on the prices?

Much appreciated!
