Hi,

Im going inter railing with my girlfriend in June on the route bellow for 30 days
We had originally planned to have €4000 spending money between us, that was to cover food, accommodation, attraction/things to do while over there and any extra costs for trains (thats not included in the costs) So for example we will be getting two night trains at €100 per train and some have reservation fees of about €20 for us both.

We have already paid for our flights to Venice and from Paris and have our train passes. So its only for money we will spend over there. We would want a private room in a hostel or a cheap hotel (whatever is cheapest) and we would eat out most of the time, mainly fast food and the odd cheap restaurant. We wouldn't drink often at all so that should save money.

After looking up the price of accommodation it looks like about €1400 for us both so about €45 per night. And that if I book now, I feel like it might be more expensive to book closer to the time? (incase we change routes). That leaves us with €3000.

I was looking at priceoftravel.com and using the food prices they gave me it would cost about €2700 for the month for food.

On top of that there are costs such as night trains and any attraction that we might want to visit.

Would a budget of €4500 be enough for two people staying in private rooms and eating out in cheap/fast food places with the occasional resturant be enough?

Roughly equal time in each

Italy - Venice
Slovenia - Ljubljana
Croatia - 1 day in Zagreb, 1 day in pitvich lakes then back to zagreb to get night train - hoping to rent a car for trip to Pitvich (€50)
Serbia, Beograd
Hungary - budapest
Austria - Vienna
Germany - Berlin
Neatherlands - Amsterdam
Belgium - Bruges
France - Paris 4 nights (will have to pay for train from Bruges as pass expires day or two before we expect to get there.

Also, I bought my passes through the official link and filled in the form to get Plus, but I dont see any difference? Is this correct?

Hi!

4500€ equals about 150€ per day which will easily be enough for staying in private rooms in decent hostels or hotels plus eating in small local restaurants every day! :)
You will find much cheaper fast food places in all cities - but please do not go to McDonalds, Burger King and the like... If you ask at the reception of your accomodation or fellow travellers you will get loads of tips for nice restaurants, bars etc.

Look for accomodation including at least a basic breakfast, then get some snacks on the way at supermarkets or better at local stores and markets and you will have enough money left for a decent meal in the evening. If you are not looking for anything fancy you will get buy with about 15€ per person - it can get a bit more expensive in Amsterdam, Paris etc but will be cheaper in Belgrade, Budapest etc...

I would book accomodation in Venice, Amsterdam and Paris well in advance if you want decent quality at a good price. In all other places you should find good offers also at short notice. [ux]https://rail.shop/bookingcom[/ux] is a good option - many hotels sell away remaining beds at good prices, look for special deals there.

As soon as Pete is online he will check and upgrade you to PLUS. Thanks for supporting. :)
