Hello everyone!
I've recently developed an interested on trying to do a trip to Cologne by train. I'm trying to do a speed trip to show some of my friends that it is possible to do it in 24 hours straight. I'm including high-speed trains of course.
Do you guys hav any suggestions on how to leave the 2nd August (by night) and get to Cologne the fastest way possible?
Take a plane answers not included ;)

I think you will not get there in 24 hours.
Found these connection for you:
https://rail.cc/en/train/lisbon-to-paris
From Lissabon to Paris taking a night train to France and the tgv to paris.
2118 Lissabon, 1833 Paris
From Paris to Cologne theres an other Tgv.

Sadly I can t find a later connection to Cologne by tgv than starting on 1800 Paris du North to Cologne 2115.
So that will delay your route of 24 by one hour...
Theres one last connection
that should be suspended as it shows.

So here you have a start but I have bad hope to get there in 24 hours..

Hi!
As Wouter already has rightly put it, it is not possible to do that trip in less that 24 hours at the moment.

Thank you guys! Yeah I noticed that it was a matter of 1 or 2 hour and I'd be able to do it on the same day. Although it looks like the trip back can be possible on the same day: Cologne-Paris, Paris-Irun, Irun-Lisboa doesn't it?

Yeah, the return trip is indeed possible via Paris and Irun - although you will need a bit more than 24 hours overall. ;)

Indeed Flow, but I'm thinking of 24 hours as psychological factor^^.
Also thiking of a possibility which is by car from Lisbon to Madrid and then Madrid-Barcelona, Barcelona-Paris and Paris-Cologne. Might be able to do both trips in 24 hours.

That should work too...although it is also some kind of cheating if you dont travel the whole route by train IMO ;)

Fact. I'm only having some doubts because I'll travel with my wife and 2 friends, and we heard that the tourist beds on the Sud Express smell really bad. Just had a doubt if the natural smell of those bedrooms was like that or if it depends daily on with whom are you sharing it. ;)

Humm...well I have been using the Sud Express several times and never had issues with bad smell in the Turista cabins. However my last trip was from Lisboa to Madrid in February 2012... ;)
Anyway if you are a group of four you can book a whole Turista cabin on your own. :)
