Hello,

I want to do this route:
Amsterdam -> Wenen -> Zagreb -> Brescia -> Bern -> Munchen -> Amsterdam

It is the first time for me to use Interrail, so all advice and tips are welcome.
Do you think this is a good route?

I hope you understand my English

The part of Brescia to Bern is a difficult question. The fastest route will be viaMilano, Lugano and the Gotthard taking the fast trains when you are making your way in just 1 day. Will take about 10 hours.

I personaly recommend you to make somewhere a stop.
Please check out this route:

Hello,

Last year a bit of my interrail route was in the same region and I've been in the area a couple of times, so I hope I can give you some trustworthy advice! Here it is:

Amsterdam-Wenen (Vienna) is a very long trip, it depends on what time you leave but it will take about 12 hours to get there. Bern-Amsterdam would be shorter (8 hours). Because of that, I would suggest going to München before Vienna instead of after Bern.

When you are in Vienna you can take a day trip to Bratislava. It's a nice city to visit for a day, and it only takes an hour to get there by train. You don't need more than one day to visit Bratislava, but if you want to save money you should get a place to sleep there instead of in Vienna (Vienna can be very expensive, Bratislava can be very cheap).

Last year I wanted to go to Zagreb but ended up skipping it because it is so hard to reach from pretty much anywhere (the train connections aren't very good). There is a direct connection from Vienna to Zagreb but as far as I know it only goes once a day (at 15:55, you will arrive at 22:43). If you want to go earlier, like I did, you have to switch trains a lot. The trip from Zagreb to Brescia is even harder, you will have to switch trains a few times and it will take about 12 hours to get there.
If Zagreb is worth the trouble to you, you can go there, but I would suggest skipping it and maybe visiting a different city instead. Venice or Innsbruck would be good options.

Before and after Brescia are a few other nice cities you could visit, like Verona and Milano. You could also stop at Lago di Garda, the train stops in a couple of villages directly at the lake. I would suggest visiting Peschiera del Garda.

Another, very beautiful, lake you will pass is Lago Maggiore. The train will go by this lake when you travel from Brescia to Bern. If you have the time you could visit a town there.
@Post above me: As far as I know the trip from Brescia to Bern actually isn't that hard, you would only need to switch in Milano and it would take about 4-5 hours total. But maybe there's something going on there of which I don't know!

My suggested route would be:
Amsterdam - München - Vienna - (Bratislava) - Venice/Innsbruck - (Verona - Peschiera del Garda) - Brescia - (Milano - Lago Maggiore) - Bern - Amsterdam

Look at your route using the interrail timetables: nl.interrail.eu/plan-your-trip/interrail-timetable
It shows you when trains leave, how long they will take, if you need to switch trains, etc.

Hi!

Your route is possible and there are many ways to arrange the order in which you visit these cities. As you are going to have at least six trips the best option for your probably would be to get a 5in10 Interrail ticket plus an extra ticket from Amsterdam to your first destination or from your last destination to Amsterdam.

A possible way to visit these cities would be:

Amsterdam - Munich (as mentioned before it would make sense to make a stop at Munich first to cut the long journey to Vienna short)
Munich - night train to Zagreb
Zagreb - Vienna
Vienna - night train to Brescia
Brescia - Bern
Bern - Amsterdam

That way you would save yourself the hassle of going from Zagreb to Brescia via Slovenia which is a bit complicated and would take almost a whole day.
IMO the best (most scenic) option to go from Brescia to Bern would be to travel via Milano - Gotthard railway - Arth-Goldau - Luzern - Brünig railway.

If you want to invest a bit of extra time for another very scenic route you could also think about including the Bernina railway: https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/

I'm so happy with all the replies and tips!
It is difficult because all routes look good .

I have 2 to 2.5 weeks to travel.
So I need a moment to figure out which route is best for mine and feasible.
It's my first time with InterRail so all the tips and advice is welcome.

I want to thank anyone for their response (s), thank you very much :) !

Greetings,

Ashley

Hej Ashley,

you're welcome. Dont forget to use our partner links when you book to support our free support system, thank you ;)
If you can travel for 2+ weeks you could think about getting regular tickets for both Amsterdam to Munich and Bern to Amsterdam, covering the trip in between with a 5in10 Interrail ticket. Then you could also add another destination, for instance you could take the night train from Munich to Budapest, then travel from Budapest to Vienna and on as suggested above.
You might also check if it would be cheaper to travel the whole route with a 10in22 Interrail pass.
