Hi All,
Planning a hopefully not too hectic trip from mid july using the 10 in 22 day Global Pass.
Basically a General query on the possibility of our chosen route being logistically acceptable? I have done a bit of research and it seems ok.
We appreciate there will be additional charges for night trains etc and also for some of the shorter journeys to include destinations over and above the 10 days within the pass. Also we may not make the latter part of our journey if we enjoy the beaches of Split etc.
Trip:
Cologne. 1 Night
Cologne - Basel Possibly Night Train depending on cost (Visiting Interlaken area 2-3 Nights)
Basel - Prague Night Train. Any Ideas on Cost of Train???? Prague 2 Nights but If journey expensive we shall split the journey with 2 day trains and take in Munich for 1 night.
Prague - Budapest. Budapest 2 Nights
Budapest - Zagreb.
Zagreb - Split. 2-4 Nights (possibly visiting islands)
Split - Ancona Ferry
Ancona - Rome. 2 Nights.
Rome - Florence. 2 Nights
Florence - Milan.
After looking at the night trains I was wondering what kind of fees we would have to pay,, I couldnt see an interrail option when I did a mock booking??
Any Info or advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Flo

Hi!
Cologne - Basel night train:
a) CNL: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/amsterdam-zurich-cnl40419/16 (how-to-reserve at the bottom of the page)
b) IC: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/duisburg-basel-ic-61419/313 Seats only, no reservation required (but recommended during peak summer)
Zürich - Basel - Prague night train: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/zurich-prague-cnl40470/38
Other night trains: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/germany/de
Where did you try mock bookings for the night trains?
Not for all night trains Interrail reservations are available online - if there are, it is usually described in the links, as above for the night trains Cologne - Basel and Basel - Prague.
To support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

Thank you for your response and information, much appreciated.
I tried checking the night train prices using the link from the relevant section on here and was expecting to see an 'Interrail' option at some point but it didnt appear, i did this briefly when i was intially researching a while ago so may have missed it. Does the fare reduce somewhat??
Do you think the proposed Itinery is possible or too tight?, we were still trying to keep it flexible and relaxed as it should be but theres so much we want to seeeeee :D Ha.

Do you miss an Interrail option when booking the night train? Which night trains exactly?
The route looks OK; I am not sure about spending that much time in Interlaken though - the trains to the Jungfrau area are not included in Interrail and you would have to pay extra.
You may also set a certain date when you have to leave Croatia for Italy in order to have enough time (about a week) for all cities you want to visit in Italy.

Evening, Thanks for the info
Yeah, When going via the link I dont seem to see an 'Interrail' offer option or even a 'book only extra charge' as mentioned which is odd??
I appreciate there are extra fares to pay for the mountain trains and I agree it might seem a bit of time in the Interlaken area, but there are some nice trips and activities we want to take in and dont want to rush that section of the trip.
We have no fixed flight back and are leaving the time open prior to crossing to Italy from split, because Im sure we get to comfortable on the beaches but if all goes to our approximate dates we hope to allow like you say 5-6 days doing Rome and Florence.

PS. I forgot to mention the Night train we were looking at was the Zurich (get on at Basel) to Prague. Approximately 21.00hrs at Basel?

Umm...it should be all described here?

You cannot book for example Basel SBB - Prague hl n since both stations are outside Germany. You could book Basel Bad Bf (which is considered a German station) - Prague hl n or Zürich HB/Basel SBB - Dresden; this is an issue with the online booking system. As the reservation fee is the same for all destinations it is usually no problem to enter earlier/stay on the train longer; just book from Basel Bad Bf.
OK - there are of course other nice mountain railways which are free with Interrail or where you get at least 50% but if you want to go there thats alright of course ;)
