Hi Everybody! I got some vacations in the Summer, and want to use them to Interrail for 22 days. ||
I created this itinerary and I have some questions:
05.06.15 - 06.06.15 Zürich - Amsterdam (nighttrain)
06.06.15 Amsterdam
07.06.15 Amsterdam
07.06.15 - 08.06.15 Amsterdam - Hamburg (nighttrain)
08.06.15 Hamburg
09.06.15 Hamburg - Koppenhagen (1. Is there no nighttrain available?)
10.06.15 Koppenhagen
11.06.15 Koppenhagen
12.06.15 Koppenhagen
12.06.15 - 13.06.15 Koppenhagen - Stockholm (nighttrain)
13.06.15 Stockholm
14.06.15 Stockholm
14.06.15 - 15.06.15 Stockholm - Helsinki (2. not sure about this one, since it seems Time consuming. Does it really take ~17 hrs?)
15.06.15 Helsinki
16.06.15 Helsinki
16.06.15 - 17.06.15 Helsinki - Rostock (3. Is this still possible? At night?)
17.06.15 Rostock - Berlin
18.06.15 Berlin
19.06.15 Berlin - Krakow
20.06.15 Krakow
20.06.15 - 21.06.15 Krakow - Budapest (nighttrain)
21.06.15 Budapest
22.06.15 Budapest - Zagreb
23.06.15 Zagreb
23.06.15 - 24.06.15 Zagreb - Wien (nighttrain)
24.06.15 Wien
25.06.15 Wien
26.06.15 Wien
26.06.15 - 27.06.15 Wien - Zürich (nighttrain)
1. Is there no nighttrain for Hamburg - Koppenhagen available?
2. Stockholm - Helsinki Does it really take ~17 hrs? Or if I dont do Helsinki, is there a good way to get from Stockholm to Berlin/Poland?
3. If I do end up going to Helsinki; Is Helsinki - Rostock still possible? At night?
4. Can you take as many nighttrains as possible, or is there restrictions with the Pass?
5. Would you take the 10 travels in 22 days pass for this trip, or the all-around Pass? (i'm under 25yo)
6. Has someone done something similar/Does someone think this route is not possible?
Thanks a lot in advance!
Cheers 8)

Hi Alex!
1) There will run an overnight Eurocity (EC 231) train from Hamburg to Copenhagen on selected days during peak summer; however the first day of running will be 26 June, too late for your trip.
2) The overnight ferries take about 17 hours, yes. If you have time I would recommend travelling during the day from Stockholm to Turku, then take the train from Turku to Helsinki. The ferry runs mostly through the Schären islands off the Swedish and Finnish coast, it is really beautiful.
3) No, there is currently no Helsinki - Rostock ferry; however Finnlines operates Helsinki - Travenmünde; I travelled in the opposite direction in January and can recommend it, however it wont be cheap.
4) No there are no restrictions, you can take as many night trains as you like. You only have to get extra reservations for couchette and sleeper accomodation and on many night trains also for regular seats.
5) Well, it just depends on whether the 10 travel days will be enough for your and cover all trips or not. Keep in mind that you do not have to use a travel day if you only get a discount (eg when you use the ferries on the Baltic Sea).
6) Should be possible, why not? :)
Some added remarks:
There is no Amsterdam - Hamburg night train; however you could travel overnight using regular ICE and IC trains but this would require changing trains at least once and you would have to travel in regular seats (no couchette/sleeper accomodation).
There is no Copenhagen - Stockholm night train, only from Malmö.
Berlin - Krakow is best done with the IC Bus of Deutsche Bahn; if you dont want to go by bus you could think of rearranging the last part of your trip:
Berlin - night train to Budapest - night train to Krakow - night train to Vienna - Zagreb - night train to Zürich.
...oh, and there is no Zagreb - Wien night train as well.

Hello Flo!
Thanks for your answer! I've been thinkering with my itinerary, and now i also finally bought my pass.
I'm going to a festival in Menningen before the trip. So the Plan is:
Menningen - Hamburg
Hamburg - Copenhagen
Copenhagen - Stockholm
Sotckholm - Helsinki
After Helsinki I am a little lost. I dont want to have to travel back from where I came, and I don't have the money to get the Russian Visum. So I think I am left with Tallinn. But when I search for connections from Tallinn i can't find any.
Maybe you could give me some usefull tips: After Tallin I want to travel in direction Slovakia, since I am visiting a friend there, and after that direction Wien. I found Tallinn - Riga under https://rail.cc/en/tallinn/train/c but I am not sure if I there is a good Route from Riga to go to Slovakia afterwards.
So what do you think? Do have any other usefull tips :) ?
Thx in advance!
Cheers

Hej Alex,
please enter your booking data here to upgrade your account to PLUS: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/plus
What kind of pass did you purchase?
Interrail is not valid in the Baltics so I am not sure if it is a good idea to plan your trip through these countries. :|
Anyway, information can be found in the blog: https://rail.cc/blog/travel-in-the-baltics-with-train-bus-and-ferry/

Hi Flo!
It says my Account is already Plus (?).
I bought a Global Youth Pass.
Thanks for the tip. So i decided I'm going to St. Petensburg and then travel on from there. Is the best way to get to Slovakia to travel over Vilnius?
Thanks and cheers

Thanks for supporting :)
Well, Russia is not included in Interrail either...I would recommend going back from Helsinki to Stockholm and then travel to Slovkia via Germany.
You could for instance travel from Stockholm with the day ferry through the beautiful Schären landscape to Turku and then continue by train to Helsinki.
Back with the night ferry to Stockolm and continue to Malmö and Ystad and take the ferry to Swinoujscie (Polferries or Unity Line).
If you really want to go to St Peterburg you could look into a round trip from St Peter Line - if you enter and leave Russia by ferry you can get a free visa.
From St Petersburg you would have to continue by bus (Lux Express to Tallinn or Riga/Vilnius).
To get to Slovakia travel to Warsaw as explained above and then for instance with the night train in direction of Budapest to Bratislava.
