Hi, I've come across this site after finding out about interrail and would be very grateful for any help and critiques.

Planning the above trip with my girlfriend for this summer, anytime from end of June till August using the 5 in10 pass. Starting from London and flying to Paris, and then flying back from Rome was the plan so far, would like to take advantage of any overnight trains if possible also. This is my first time planning such a trip so a bit apprehensive at the moment.

Would this route be advisable using the 5 in 10 ticket, am I right that it would allow us to spend a couple nights in each place if we wanted to?

All help gratefully received.

Thanks

Hi.
Flying from London to Paris makes no sense. :)
Airports are outside of cities and you pay extra to get to the city centres. Will take in total much more time than using for example the direct Eurostar from city centre to city centre. The best is to buy early a special price ticket for Eurostar at [ux]https://rail.shop/beurope[/ux] target=_blank
Or use an inexpensive bus. Read here for details: https://rail.cc/blog/london-to-paris-by-eurostar-train-bus-or-ferry/

All the rest of your trip is easy to do with Interrail.

Paris-Bruges: do not use the Thalys train from Paris to Brussels. Use free local and IC trains:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail/paris-to-bruges

Bruges-Brussels-Amsterdam: also for free - read here: https://rail.cc/blog/amsterdam-brussels-train/

Amsterdam-Berlin: free direct day trains - https://rail.cc/en/interrail/amsterdam-to-berlin

Berlin-Rome: as you have now two days left, split it in two steps. First for example Berlin to Munich by free train - or why not to Vienna.
From one of these two cities by overnight train to Rome:
Munich-Rome: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/munich-rome-cnl-485/35
Vienna-Rome: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/vienna-rome-en-235/92

Or if you like mountains, travel first from Berlin by free trains to Switzerland and cross the Alps this way (free with Interrail and absolutely amazing):

If not enough travel days left, travel in Italy for example by special price ticket Milan to Rome: https://rail.shop/italo target=_blank

Please help and support the free information on railcc. Click our partner link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] right before you order your official Interrail pass. Same service, same prices for you. But you support with this simple click all the free information on railcc. Thank you! :)

Pete :)
