My sister and I are travelling around this Europe summer with an Interrail GlobalPass. The last trip we want to do is going from Venice (Italy) to Marseilles (France). I have looked it up and it looks possible, but it looks quite confusing and I can't quite work out the changes/how to book reservations for the separate trains etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi!
In principle its not a big deal:
Frequent Frecciabianca trains run from Venice to Milan; 10€ compulsory reservation, can be bought at ticket machines at stations in Italy: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/frecciabianca/trenitalia-fb/48
From Milan you would then have to take an Intercity train to Ventimiglia (3€ reservation optional - https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/intercity/trenitalia-ic/47 ), then by local train ( https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/transport-express-r%C3%A9gional/sncf-ter/37 ) to Nice where you change for Marseille.
However, some of the Intercity services from Milan to Ventimiglia will be replaced by direct Milan - Ventimiglia - Nice - Marseille trains operated by Thello: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/thello/thello-thello/289
The compulsory reservation for these trains is a whopping 53€! So I would recommend to avoid these trains when you are travelling - or book a regular ticket well in advance which will be cheaper...
To support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)
