Hi there,
I'm looking to get the 1-month InterRail pass in the summer, most likely July before going to university. I'm getting excited about the prospect of visiting so much so am just wondering if my current planned route is too impractical! Starting by flying to Amsterdam (the Netherlands), I'd then wish to travel by train to Berlin (Germany) - Prague (Czech Republic) - Lake Bled region (Slovenia) - Coastal Croatia (Split/Hvar/Dubrovnik??) and then catch a ferry to Ancona and travel to Rome-Florence-Venice (Italy), and then fly home.
Do you guys think this amount of cities to stay in (7/8) and countries (5) is reasonable or should I consider shortening the trip? The reason I like the route I've chosen is that it includes a lot of variety: Big cities (Berlin, Rome), trekking and picturesque landscapes (Slovenia Lake Bled), sun and sea (Croatia) and rich history and food (Italy).
Also, I currently have £1300 saved for the trip (including the InterRail month pass) from working and currently I am still working so I can probably save another £400-£500. Should this cover the costs realistically? Aiming to stay in hostels, I don't mind sharing rooms.
I am definitely travelling as a pair, although others may join us still.
Thanks for reading, if you have any better route suggestions please let me know!

Hi Daniel!
Your route is easily doable within one month.
I would even add a few other stops in between, for instance Dresden, Prague, Bratislava, Vienna, Budapest, Graz, Ljubljana, Zagreb...
In Croatia you can only get as far as Split by train from Zagreb. There you can take a ferry to Hvar or a bus to Dubrovnik.
You could also think about travelling Budapest - Belgrade - through the mountains to Montenegro. There you can go by bus to the Adriatic at Budva and Kotor or go to the Durmitor mountains before travelling to Dubrovnik. Then you could continue to Split - Zagreb - Lake Bled and go to Italy by train (and skip the ferry).
In Italy there are also many other smaller really nice cities such as Perugia, Assisi, Siena, Lucca (all doable as day trips from Florence or Rome) or go to Cinque Terre.
Regarding money I dont think you will have issues. 1300 minus the pass price would already equal about 40€ per day which will be a really good basis already covering basic accomodation, food etc. If you could get even more money extra you can treat yourself for some nice dinners etc. :)
