I am currently deciding If i am going to buy a 22 day global pass to travel during August. I have been reading the site since yesterday, checking routes and the information for different countries but I am a bit confused.

Obviously I won't be able to book any trains that need a reservation until May so I have been looking at dates three months from now to get an idea. Do the prices vary greatly from the April to August? Is there any way to get an idea of the likely price before May (I have tried DB but nothing yet)? Is my only choice to plan what I think I will do then wait until May and each time the prices are released hope they arenĀ“t too high?
The problem comes when I book for the beginning of August and pay one only to find that everything at the end f the month is too high and the trip becomes less feasable.

I am keen to start organising the trip (I will need to fly to a start point) as soon as possible but need to make sure that the prices will not escalate too high once I start.

Thanks, Andrew :D

Hi Andrew!

If you are looking for InterRail reservation fares, you probably already had a look here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
The reservation prices are fixed and do not change whether you buy them in advance or not.

Also it is not really necessary to make your bookings three months sharp in advance if you want to go on an InterRail trip as you would lose all the flexibility that is one of the key elements. I'd only make reservations that far in advances for a handful of special trains for instance the Budapest - Burgas summer season night train that is not running daily: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/budapest-burgas-g-1471/293

Of course this also depends on where you are going, how many people are travelling etc...

To support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

Hi Flo,

Thanks for the information. I hadn't seen the page you liked me to, so that helps.

Alright, no problem. Please just ask if anything is unclear.
