Hi guys. I am doing the following route from the 13th Feb ~ 13th April. Any suggestions on whether this is doable in 2 months or the best way to do it would be greatly appreciated. Thinking of buying two month global passes for the duration - would this be the most cost effective? Are there any parts of the trip where a train would be needed that isn't covered by the pass?

London - Brussels - Antwerp - Amsterdam - Hamburg - Berlin - Prague - Kraków - Bratislava - Budapest - Zagreb - Ljubljana - Venice - Rome - Pisa - Milan - Zurich - Paris

Also anyone thinking of doing a similar route at a similar time feel free to get in touch :)

Many thanks,

Lewis :D

Hi Lewis!

You could save a bit of money by purchasing three 10in22 passes instead of two month passes. IMO these should be sufficient as you probably wont travel every day - especially towards the end of a trip I tend to prefer a slower pace so you should be fine with that.
The route itself is easily doable. Going from Ljubljana to Venice can be tricky as there are no through trains. A possible option is described here: https://rail.cc/blog/travel-lake-bled-train/

From Venice to Rome take care that you cannot use the Italo trains operated by NTV; use Frecciargento trains operated by Trenitalia instead or travel by IC or regional trains if you want to save money.

From Milan to Zürich I recommend this scenic route if you have a bit of time: https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/

From Zürich to Milan avoid the direct TGV Lyria services as these are really expensive for rail pass travellers. Instead travel to the first city in France from which a domestic TGV runs to Paris (Mulhouse or Colmar/Strasbourg) and take a TGV from there. TGV reservations at [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf/reservation[/ux]

To support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

Thanks flo that's brilliant. One more thing - thinking of going to split in Croatia. Is there an easy way to get to Venice afterwards perhaps by boat, that is covered with the pass?

There are ferries from Split to Ancona: https://rail.cc/en/split/ferry/c However there are no discounts for the ferries.
From Ancona to Venezia it takes at least four hours and depending on the connection you might also need a reservation (10€).

An alternative would be the ferry to Rijeka if it runs again in 2015: https://rail.cc/en/train/dubrovnik-to-rijeka however onward travel to Venice is a bit lenghty and awkward from Venice; the cheapest option would be to travel by overnight train to Zagreb and then make your way to Venice via Ljubljana: https://rail.cc/blog/travel-lake-bled-train/
