Hi :D ,
My name is Inês. My friends and I would like do one interrail in our summer holidays, starting in Portugal. We like buy the interrail ticket which have 10 days of travel in train of the 22 days of traveling, but we have some doubts.
1. when we buy the interrail ticket we do a reserve in the trains that we won't or not?
2. if the answer was no, how we can do it to be sure that we have space in trains that we want?
3. the interrail ticket doesn't include night train, right?, how we buy that? in the same time when we buy the interrail ticket?
since now thank you very much
Best regards
Inês

Hi Inês.
1) Not all trains require a reservation. Some are free, some not.
Please read the first timer guide here (also available in Portuguese language): https://rail.cc/en/first-time-interrail
Here a list of trains: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
If you like, have a look at the connections where you see if a train is free or not: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
2) Trains are not planes. It is no problem to get into a free train even if you sit on the floor. :)
Avoid peak travel times like Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon/evening.
3) Have a look at the night train list for Interrail: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train
Bellow the maps you find an explanation how to make a reservation.
The base fare is included in Interrail, you only pay the reservation of the type of accommodation you want.
To support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)
