Hi,

I am trying to book the tickets in Feb 2015 either from MUNICH to ZAGREB OR SALZBURG TO LJUBLJANA.

But however i try both Bahn(German) and Oebb(Austria) but the website indicated not available

Is it because i try to buy too early? but i try some date in Dec 2014. the same result too.

Please help. Thank in advance! ;)

Hi!

Unfortunately, online tickets for the night train Munich - Zagreb are not available - you have to buy them at a ticket desk at a station or via a ticket agency.
However, you can buy online tickets for the same night train, starting from Salzburg (not from Munich), on the ÖBB website, but only to Zagreb, not Ljubljana.
This is not an issue about when you book but a general problem with this train... :(

Hi Flo,

Many Thanks!

How much does it cost when i buy it on the day i arrive?
Is it possible ask my friend to get for me in Munich or any Germany Station and then pass it to me when i arrive.
Can i buy it via railcc?

I try to book starting from Salzburg (not from Munich), on the ÖBB website to Zagreb but its not available too. ;)
did i book it correctly?

Oh I see you tried only for February - that is an issue of the timetable change in December then. It works for days prior to 14 December. Sorry. ;)
Anyway, on the ÖBB website you only get the regular Globalpreis full fare apparently, not the cheaper Sparschiene offer, so it would be the best option for you to ask your friend to get the ticket at a station in Germany (not available via railcc) and then pass it to you. The best option would then be a Sparnight ticket which should be available from 39€ for a seat (49€ for a couchette, 69€ for a sleeper) for Munich - Zagreb, pre booking is available 3 months in advance, however due to the timetable change you still have to wait a little until tickets get available (I cant tell you the exact date).

Many thanks Flo!
So there is also a change in time for Zagreb to Vienna trains too?
i try that at Oebb.at , its not available as well.

Can i check if my friend buy a ticket for me in any German Station, is the ticket under his name or credit card? when the [ux]https://rail.shop/omio[/ux] do the tickets checks on the train , what type of verification do i need to provide?

Well, there is a general timetable change in most European countries on December 14; and while many train timings remain more or less the same this also affects the booking availability/possibility, especially online. I have troubles myself booking the Wien - Berlin night train for shortly after new year... ;)

Your friend can book the ticket at a station, there will be no name or id data printed on it and you can use it without troubles. However, in case it is a male friend and you would like to travel in a sleeper on the night train, make sure he would book a bed in a female sleeper compartment (sleeper compartments are separated by gender)! ;)

Zagreb - Vienna is not available online anyway, you will have to buy it locally. However, you could save a bit of money by purchasing a ticket only from Zagreb to Graz, then a Sparschiene for Graz - Vienna on the ÖBB website. Zagreb - Vienna should be around 75€, Zagreb - Graz around 40€; Sparschiene tickets are available from 9€.

Thank Flo!

I guess will try to book them after Dec 14. :)

Noted on the couchette, thanks for reminder too!

For Zagreb to Viena, is this the one you are refering to? the 29€ Sparschiene Ticket?
http://www.oebb.at/en/Travelling_abroad/SparSchiene_Europa/Croatia/index.jsp

if my friend stay in Germany, is my friend able to buy the Austria, Slovenia or Croatia Trains ticket from his German Train Station?

Please note the difference between sleeper and couchette. ;)
couchette = 6 or 4 bunk beds per compartment, mixed occupancy (however on some trains female only compartments are available)
sleeper = 1 to 3 beds per compartment including wash basin, male/female only compartments (unless a whole compartment is booked)

There is a Sparschiene ticket for Zagreb - Vienna, yes, however this is sold online only for Vienna - Zagreb journeys, tickets for the other directions are available only at ticket desks at stations as far as I know.
That is why I suggested buying a regular full fare ticket Zagreb - Graz only plus a Graz - Wien Sparschiene (Graz - Wien will be available online since it is a domestic journey) - but you can also try to get Zagreb - Wien online, but I am pretty sure it wont be available.
Your friend can buy tickets for all routes at a German station however not all special offers will be available there, eg the Sparschiene tickets for Zagreb - Wien are available only at stations in Austria and Croatia as far as I know.

What kind of ticket do you have?

If it is Sparschiene, I am not sure if it is allowed - I dont find any particular rule though. I will try to check.

This is no problem, even with a Sparschiene ticket. :)

Hi Flo,

Do i need a reservation to get on a EC 159 from Graz to Zagreb.
If without a reservation, do i just sit randomly?
And in the event if the train is filled, will i be ask to unboard the train?

Thanks!

You dont need a reservation and the train wont be that full - no worries, just get onboard and have a seat. :)
