Hi!

We plan to go interrailing in June 2015. We have a very planned out itinerary now and we know when and where we would like to go. I have but one question;

Should we make our train reservations before we go online, or should we just reserve our next train when we arrive in a city (For example, when we arrive in Vienna, should we book our night train to Amsterdam when we arrive)? Let me know which is safer. I am scared that the second option is too risky; We would not like to be stuck in a sticky situation.

Thanks for any help.

Oh!

And is it any more expensive to reserve at the station than it is online?! Will the prices be more or less the same as advertised on here for the Night Train Prices?

Thanks!

Hi!

How large is your group?
In general it is difficult to preview if and when a night train will be fully booked; depending on how long your trip will be I would make reservations in advance for about the first week or so of travel and do the remainder during your trip. Of course, if you have a fixed route already in your mind you can make more reservations in advance - it is mainly a matter of how flexible you would like to be during your trip.
If you decide to make reservations while you are travelling, you do not have to make them at the station of origin of each night train, in general it is always possible to make reservations at other stations as well, also for trains running entirely abroad. BTW there is no Wien - Amsterdam night train.

Regarding fares, we always try to list the fares that apply when buying each reservation at a station in the country(ies) where the night train runs. At stations in other countries or online prices can differ slightly due to extra fees etc.
