Hi, so we scrapped the idea of krakow and came to cesky krumlov from prague. Beautiful place and we are setting off tomorrow to meet a friend who lives in brno. As we need to get to venice for the 7th oct for our flight to bangkok I was wondering what would be the best way to venice from brno? Staying a night somewhere en route?. Sorry for the misleading itinerary guys :) . Thanks again this forum gets better and better when in need of info :D JimboJr.

Thanks! :)
So...Cesky Krumlov to Brno is no big deal, there are connections about every two hours with a change of trains in Ceske Budejovice:
Cesky Krumlov 1057 - 1147 Ceske Budejovice
Ceske Budejovice 1212 - 1636 Brno

It would be no problem to get from Brno to Venice within one day, this is even possible without extra reservations if needed. Anyway, since you still have one week to go one or even two stopovers en route would make sense.
First city that would come to mind would be Vienna of course; there is also a night train connecting Vienna with Venice, so if you still are looking for the overnight journey experience, this would be the way to go.
From Vienna you could also make (day) trips to: Budapest, Graz, Salzburg,...or if you are looking for some more rural experiences, maybe have a look into Salzkammergut (Gmunden, Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern, Hallstatt, Bad Aussee) or take the narrow gauge Mariazellerbahn to the pilgrimage city of the same name (included in InterRail). You could also go hiking along the UNESCO world heritage Semmering railway or go with the tourist Wachau railway (although the latter is only open on weekends from now on) or take a boat tour on the Danube to Melk.
In between Vienna and Venice you could also make a stop in Slovenia; Ljubljana and Lake Bled would be the obvious places to visit there first. From there you can make your way within one day to Venice or make an intermediate stop in Triest.

Just some suggestions... :)
