Hi guys, I'm trying to plan my Interrail trip, but I'm stuck on this connection. I would like to get from Nice or Avignon to Barcelona, but if I try to make a reservation on the SNCF website it seems like fast trains are more expensive than what Interrail.eu says (Nice-Barcelona reservation 80€). Even this route seems to be very expensive https://rail.cc/en/train/nice-to-barcelona .
Do you think it will be the standard reservation fee (6€ for Intercitès, 6€ for TGVs) if I book it at the train station right before boarding? Or do I have to just look for another route?

Thanks in advance.

Hi.
Reservations for TGV trains from France to Spain only available a ticket windows in these tow countries, NOT online.
Number of seats for Interrailers very limited.
You can also use free trains: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/nice-to-barcelona
If you was fair and bought your official Interrail ticket via the railcc affiliate link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] to support all the free information and the help in the forum, I'm happy to give you all the details you need for this trip, to save a lot of money on reservations. There is also a nice route available including the Little Yellow Train, but depends on your travel date.

Hi Peter, of course I bought my Interrail ticket through railcc since it's been helping me so much in the last month or so (and my girlfriend bought it from here too :) ). Here's my ticket https://imageshack.com/i/ipu3Bw9Ej 8)
In fact I was looking right now at the Little Yellow train.

Thanks for your help.

Hi.
Thank you for supporting!!! :)
Okay... the Petit Train Jaune runs until the end of September. From October there is a bus replacement due to rail track works. If you travel before October, it might be an option for you, but you will need an overnight stop in Perpignan.
https://rail.cc/en/perpignan/accommodation/c
What date you want to travel exactly, then I search a free connection for you.
If you want to use a connection including an IC train, have a look here for reservations: [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf/reservation[/ux]
Select in the ticket options Global Pass.

Ok, I'm leaving on wednesday and my options are:
1-Traveling from Nice (or Avignon, depending if I make it that far since I'm coming from Italy) all the way to Barcelona
or
2-Traveling from Nice (or avignon) to Perpignan, spend the night, and take the Yellow train. It's really hard to find timetables that actually match for that connection on the internet (they don't match the ones here on railcc). I would like to know what time I will get to Barcelona because I would like to take a fast train to Valencia that night.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi.

1) The information you find via the link https://rail.cc/en/interrail/nice-to-barcelona is correct. There is the free one leaving early in the morning and the expensive one later in the day.
The other connections ended in August.

2) More comfortable:

17.09.2014
By free regional trains
Nice Ville dep 12:21 - free TER train
Montpellier Saint-Roch arr 16:53
Montpellier Saint-Roch dep 17:05 - free TER train
Perpignan arr 19:02

Overnight stay - https://rail.cc/en/perpignan/accommodation/c

18.09.2014
Perpignan dep 08:26 - free TER train
Villefranche Vernet les Bains arr 09:19
Villefranche Vernet les Bains dep 09:58 - Petit Train Jaune
Latour de Carol-Enveitg arr 13:11
Latour de Carol-Enveitg dep 13:34 - Spanish local train
Barcelona Sants arr 16:43

Schedules may vary from day to day for some minutes. The schedules on railcc are hand made - so it is simply impossible to include every change of a minute.

Peter :)
