Hi.
499 SEK is definitely too much for a reservation - it is more the price of a point to point train ticket.
But you should contact SJ directly, as I can not give you support for their shopping system - only if you buy SJ reservations via [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux] I can help you. Sorry. :|
As well I hope you bought your official Interrail pass via the railcc partner link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] , to support all the free information here on railcc and the work in the forum . Thank you to be fair!
Peter :)

Hi Peter

It is the price of the whole ticket and not just the reservation. I went to the german website and checked the trains, got the same result...
I haven't really bought the interrail pass just yet, but I am planning to buy it for december - january. What I read online is that interrail pass gives you access you free train rides, am I right? Because I've been failing to reserve train tickets for free on these websites.
And yes I was planning to buy from railcc :)

Hi.
These prices are the correct one...
Night trains: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/sweden/se
Trains in general: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/sweden/se
I will be in Sweden again in two weeks - and check their ticket machines in stations, what is possible to book there, what not. As they just closed nearly all ticket windows in Swedish stations. Only the big cities have staff left.
Thanks for supporting. :)
What train connection are you looking for?
Peter :)

Hi Peter

I am planning to an interrail (For 22 Male, I am from Sweden) and an eurail (For 24 year old female, she is from Taiwan).
We are planning to meet in Sweden and travel down to Munchen, continue to Italy and then to France. So totally 4 countries. What pass do you recommend us to buy?

We still haven't decided how many days we need to go through these countries, I thought less than two weeks would do it. Not sure yet

Best regards
Gino

Hi Gino.
As soon as you know your more or less exact route, the number of stops, the days in total, you can have a look on a rail pass.
For you the 10 travel days in a period of 22 days Interrail pass might be the best solution: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-global-pass
For your friend ... there is a 4 country Eurail pass available.
But I count more countries (don't forget the ones you cross): Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland or Austria, Italy, France. So maybe a Global Eurail Pass: https://rail.cc/en/eurail-global-pass
Otherwise, early bought point to point tickets are also a good option - but then you loose the flexibility.
An interesting route to Italy could be this one: https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/
Hi I was trying to make a reservation with my Interrail card on swedish train sj.se but they still want me to pay 499kr? Isn't it supposed to be free. First time using the card, and I also did a huge research on this card before buying it. Please help
Interrail reservations can be made at sj.se, but there are some bugs in the system:
[list:nkkvv8jr]
[*:nkkvv8jr] Reservations can only be made if you use the English version of the website, not if you use the Swedish version of the website. You should indicate that you have the customer card Pass 2 cl (InterRail/Eurail) (or 1 cl if you use a 1st class pass).[/*:m:nkkvv8jr]
[*:nkkvv8jr] Some trains show up at the full price even if Interrail is valid. This is in particular true if the train doesn't offer any reservations. If the train doesn't offer any reservations, just hop on the next train instead.[/*:m:nkkvv8jr]
[*:nkkvv8jr] The Swedish booking system offers three change of trains options: Non-rebookable, Rebookable and Refundable. Some train companies, such as SJ, sell tickets at full price unless you select the Refundable reservation type.[/*:m:nkkvv8jr]
[*:nkkvv8jr] On some short distances (see list here www.sj.se/content/1/c6/06/87/85/Ej%20m%C3%B6jlig%20platsreservationtill%20juni%2012.pdf), you can't book reservations with SJ trains even if the train offers reservations for other distances. The booking system will nevertheless try to charge you for the price of a reservation if you try. Just hop on the next train instead.[/*:m:nkkvv8jr][/list:u:nkkvv8jr]

Interrail isn't valid on at least these Swedish trains:
[list:nkkvv8jr]
[*:nkkvv8jr] Any trains operated on behalf of SL (various local trains around Stockholm)[/*:m:nkkvv8jr]
[*:nkkvv8jr] Any trains operated on behalf of UL (various local trains around Uppsala)[/*:m:nkkvv8jr]
[*:nkkvv8jr] Any trains operated on behalf of Östgötatrafiken (various local trains in Ostrogothia)[/*:m:nkkvv8jr]
[*:nkkvv8jr] Blå Tåget (Uppsala-Stockholm-Gothenburg, use the competing SJ services instead)[/*:m:nkkvv8jr]
[*:nkkvv8jr] Various heritage railways throughout the country[/*:m:nkkvv8jr]
[*:nkkvv8jr] Trams[/*:m:nkkvv8jr][/list:u:nkkvv8jr]
Don't be fooled by the inclusion of Arriva in lists such as this one interrail.eu/trains-europe/trains-country/trains-sweden]this one. That inclusion means that Interrail is valid on some of Arriva's trains, not that it necessarily is valid on all of Arriva's trains. Interrail isn't valid on Arriva trains operated on behalf of SL or Östgötatrafiken, but seems to be valid on all other Arriva trains. For many local trains, including Arriva's trains, ticket rules and prices are decided by Swedish county governments instead of the train companies (and ticket income goes to the county governments which pay the train companies for running the trains), which is why you get this Arriva mess.

Is it ok to just jump on the train and wait for the staff to check my interrail ticket? If so how do I know if the trains has any interrail seats available or not?

According to SJ you cannot make InterRail reservations on board their trains - so you risk of being fined, but might have the chance to get a free ride as well, depending on the mood of the staff. Personally, I would not risk it.
