Is there any common luggage items which are banned from certain trains in Western Europe both those inter-state and those which cross borders? For example, aerosols, liquids etc.

I do intend to check trains individual policies at some points but it would help if I could get a general overview answer here first. :))

Hi.
As much as I know: no.
More important are thinks you take over a border, for example pepper spray - allowed in some countries, in some others not.

There are luggage checks in Spain high speed network and gas cartridges are forbidden (amongst some other stuff such as big knives etc), never had problems with nail clippers, small knives etc.
Could not think about any other restrictions - except for Eurostar trains of course.

Thanks guys

So the general consensus is don't take stuff which could be classed as a dangerous/offensive weapon but everyday items are fine.
