Apologies if this question is so simple but I would appreciate some help on the nature of the use of a pass on the route i wish to take. I plan to take a 15 day trip (Amsterdam-Zurich-Munich-Venice) but i would appreciate if someone would help me out with the type of trains i could take that are compatible with the inter-rail pass. From Amsterdam to Zurich it is clear I would take a night train with City Night Line but I am unsure about how to go about booking the train. If i have an inter-rail pass will it cover that train or is there a substantial additional cost on top of it for a train with City Night Line.
Any other relevant advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
yes the ride is covered, but the train requires a reservation. So you have to pay some additional fees. You'll find the exact amount here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/amsterdam-zurich-cnl40419/16

Hi, thanks for your help on both of my questions. Thanks for the recommendation on the Zurich to Milan trip for the view. So i take it all trains are covered , its just a matter of paying additional fees for each train?

Mostly every trains are covered, not all. You have to check, for each country. E.g. for Germany you'll find here, which trains companies are : https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/germany/de But most of the trains are driven by DB, so your ticket is valid :)
On railcc you'll find information about the reservation fees of every train :) Just have a look.
