I want to make reservation for trip from Venice to Vienna in Sept 2014, but finding it difficult to do this online from Canada. I want to travel during day leaving Venice in morning preferably by train, but from my research it looks like have to take bus to Villach Hbf and then switch to train. Any suggestions?

You can do this whole journey by train, but you will require reservations and it will take around 10 hours.
For example you could;
Get the 07:50 train to Verona arriving at 08:43 (Reservation required)
Then get the 09:04 train from Verona to Innsbruck arriving at 12:32 (Reservation required)
Then the 13:05 train from Innsbruck to Vienna (WIEN HUETTELDORF) arriving at 17:55. (Reservation Optional)

Hi.
If you want to travel with an Eurail pass, please have a look here:
https://rail.cc/en/eurail/venice-to-vienna
And be fair and buy the rail pass at the place where ou get the free information from: [ux]https://rail.shop/eurail[/ux]
Best regards, Peter :)

Hi
I agree with Peter (I am a definite fan of night trains). In June I took the EN 944 Vienna-Venezia Express departing Vienna at 20:56 and arriving in Venice at 08:24. This allowed a full day in each city for sight-seeing. Wit a Eurial Pass, seat reservations are available for as little EUR 9 and reservations for 1-bed-compartment with private shower + WC are available at a cost EUR 124 with two beds at EUR 84 per person.
Its a great trip
Cheers

Thank you. I prefer the day bus/train as want to see the scenery en route.
Next question, as I am new to Eurail passes: as I will be travelling by train only in Italy prior to going to a meeting in Austria, will a one country pass for Italy allow me to make the trip from Venice to Vienna?
Thanks

Hi.
No. An Eurail Pass Italy is for Italy only, not for Austria.
