I am buying the Flexipass 5 days in 10 and will have used 4 by the time I get to Budapest. From Budapest I need to get to Split by night train. The problem is the night train starts in Budapest at 18:30 meaning it will count as two days as it is not past 7PM. To get around this problem I thought I could just get a train from Budapest to Szekesfehervar not involved with my interrail ticket then get the train from 19.30ish to Split to arrive at 8am the next morning (16th August arrival 15th depart).
However, I cannot see anyway to book this train Journey. I would like to reserve it as I have to travel on this day. I looked to reserve on [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf[/ux] but cannot do it. Any help would be appreciated with any advice or suggestions. Thank you for your help.
Edit - Can I buy a ticket from Budapest to Szekesfehervar then stay on the same train and as it is after 7pm when I get there use my interrail ticket for the rest of the journey on the same train?

Yes you can do that :) you can buy the ticket here: [ux]https://rail.shop/mav[/ux] It's 1450 HUF ~4,70€. But I think you need a reservation for the whole journey :)

Thank you for your help. I see you mean book the first part of the journey on that website. Then do I reserve the rest on the website I originally posted? Can you definitely do this? As in pay for the first part then after 7pm just use your interrail ticket even though you've reserved for the whole journey?

Yes :) I don't see any problems, because a reservation is independent from the ticket :) and you'll have two valid tickets :)

Hi!
1) I hope you have purchased or will purchase your pass through our affiliate link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] to support our work and the free information we provide, thank you. :)
2) Reservations for the direct night train Budapest - Split are not available online, only at stations in Hungary and at least its neighbouring countries. This means if you want to take this train you will have to try and get the reservation while you are travelling - another option would be to call Deutsche Bahn who might be able to get the reservation for you.
3) If you get the reservation you could either get to Szekesfehervar with a regular train that arrives to Szekesfehervar earlier with a ticket from rail.shop/mav as explained above; or, if you want to use the night train from Budapest and then the 1900 rule you would have to buy a ticket with international tariff to Szekesfehervar which would be 8€. MAV Start (Hungarian Railways) do not tolerate mixing of domestic and international tickets on the same journey! Getting an international ticket to Szekesfehervar and then using the 1900 rule from there should be fine though I have to experience in doing so in Hungary.

That is really really helpful. Thank you so much I will buy through that link when I get the pass. Do you know how much the train would be if I got the domestic one to Szekesfehervar slightly before?

I really really need to catch that train from Budapest to Split. If I try reserve it two days before do you think this would be okay as that's when I arrive in Split? I am not flexible for this journey unfortunately.

It is simply not possible to predict that, sorry.

Do you mean Budapest?? As said above you can also make the reservation in other countries than Hungary or Croatia.
