Hi,
I will be going on a 16 day interrail trip tomorrow and I plan on taking 600~ euros with me. I already have the money in euro so I was thinking I would take the cash with me in money belts etc but now I'm kinda suspicious about this idea so I wanted to ask around would it be okay to carry that amount of cash with me? Normally I would change euro to local currency and take the most of it with a debit card but then I would lose a lot because of the exchange rate differences and I trust myself with keeping the money safe on me that leads me to my next question :) If i take the money on me what precatuions should I take in hostels?
Thank you

Hi!
Well...this is not a problem, I have been travelling numerous times with cash only, carrying up to 1000€ or so with me hidden at numerous places. :D
You will just have to take good care of your things: Watch your bag all times, if possible take a padlock plus string with you to fix the backpack to the luggage racks (and use the padlock in hostels where you sometimes have to pay for padlocks). If you feel unsafe about sleeping on the train or in dorms you can use a small pouch similar to a money belt to store some cash, ticket and passport that you carry around your neck.
Happy travels and I hope you purchased your ticket at [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] to support our work and the free information we offer, thank you. :)
