Hi all,
From 4 - 23 august my friend and i are making this trip:
Rome
Hvar
Split
Zagreb
Budapest
Bratislava
Warszaw
We already booked some of our journeys, but with three train tickets it's very hard to book.
Please, how can we book just a ticket for the following journeys (we have no interrail this year, because we have a flight to rome, by ferry to Hvar, by bus to Zagreb and we stay a whole week on Sziget. From Warszaw we take a flight back home)
11 augustus: Zagreb - Budapest
18 augustus: Budapest - Bratislava
19 augustus: Bratislava - Warszaw (night train if possible)
Thank in advance,
Doefes

I found out that we can book via [ux]https://rail.shop/mav[/ux]
You have to print the tickets in Hungary.
We can't book Budapest - Bratislava, but we can book Budapest - Brno, we will step out in Bratislava, because this train passes Bratislava.
We can't book the night train Bratislava - Warszaw on this site, but we can book Budapest - Warszaw and just step op this train coming from Budapest when it passen Bratislava.
Correct me if i'm wrong. Is there any possibility to support railcc with our tickets, haven't bought it yet.
Last problem, Zagreb - Budapest.
We can book this in Split when we arrive on the 9th of august, but i think this train will be full, because of Sziget.
Thanks in advance,
Doefes

Hi!
Budapest - Bratislava: Can be bought for 17,50€ locally in Budapest at the station (it is a return ticket but cheaper as a regular single).
Bratislava - Warszawa: If you book the night train from Budapest and get on the train in Bratislava your seat/couchette/sleeper reservation will be void. It depends on the kind of ticket you have been looking at whether or not you could buy an extra reservation for Bratislava - Warsaw.
There are no special fares available for Bratislava - Warsaw to my knowledge, only a reduced return fare of 97,04€. A single ticket should be around 72€ as you can see here (plus reservation): https://rail.cc/de/nachtzug-warschau-nach-bratislava/f10681#p44715
If you are willing to travel during the day, you could go with domestic trains either via Zilina - Cadca - Skalite - Zwardon - Krakow which might be the cheapest option.
Or through CZ via Breclav - Ostrava - Cesky - Tesin - Cieszyn - Katowice/Krakow; for both routes you will have to split your tickets and buy locally.
Buy Zagreb - Budapest locally; there is a 29€ offer available; the train might be quite packed but not full in the sense of that you wont get any tickets anymore. You can also make seat reservations for the direct trains. If the 29€ offer wasnt available anymore you could get a return ticket for which a 60% discount on the regular tariff is granted.

Hi flo,
Thank you for your help.
What is the reason my ticket will be void if i step on the train in Bratislava?
I just bought 2 tickets for this train, €74 per ticket.
I think we can't cancel this ticket anymore.

Well...these are the basic tariff informations provided for your Sparnight ticket: http://www.mav-start.hu/res/sparnight.pdf
In the SCIC-NT it is written (I only have a German version at hand right now): http://www.oebb.at/static/tarife/scic-nt__nachtzuege_/index.html#2347909643
How it will work out in practice (if there will be any spontaneous travellers at any station between Budapest and Bratislava who want to travel on the sleeping car and then get your beds which you didnt claim in Budapest and if it is at all possible to buy sleeper reservations on board this train) - I do not know.

Hi flo,
Thank you again!
I think our best option since we have booked this journey for €74 per person is to go back to Budapest from Bratislava and claim our beds. It will cost us 6 hours extra, but i think we haven't got another option.
I have send Mav-Start an email with my problem, lets see what they say.
Best regards,

Yeah, it was a good idea to send MAV an email regarding this issue. If you end up having to travel back to Budapest - at least you could then make best use of the 16,50€ return offer Budapest - Bratislava vv and if you want to invest a little extra money - spend your time on the restaurant car between Bratislava and Budapest (especially if it is one from the Czech Railways). :)
