Hello.

Does anyone know if there is a train from Belgrade to Sarajevo? I haven't been able to find one, and some people have said there is only a bus, but again I haven't been able to find info about this on the internet.

Has anyone done this journey?

I was hoping from Sarajevo to go to Mostar and then get a bus to Dubrovnik, but I haven't found this online either!

Thank you!

Thank you!

Any idea about buses at all? 10 hours for our first journey seems a bit crazy!

Have you done this journey?

No, I havent, i went straight from Belgrade down to Sofia, on the way to Turkey. However thuis summer I will be spending much more time in the former Yugoslavia, so will be looking into these trains. They tend to be very slow. The best bet for bus times etc is a guide book, like the lonely planet shoestring guides or similar

Best way to get from Belgrade to Sarajevo is by bus.
There are 5-6 buses a day (most leave in the morning, but there is a night bus as well; ticket is 15E, and the journey takes about 7 hours.

Thank you! I suppose I can just buy a bus ticket then and there, or will I have to book in advance?

You can get a ticket at the bus station half an hour before. Only for the night bus I'd get it earlier the same day. You can't book tickets online.

The Belgrade bus station is right next to the main train station.

Also keep in mind there is only one bus a day (at 4pm) which will take you to the main Sarajevo bus station. All the rest go to a bus station in a suburb of Sarajevo; from there a 30 minute trolley bus ride will take you to the city center.

Hello! my boyfriend and myself will be travelling this august from Barcelona to Istambul in 1 month. We want to visit as much as possible, that's why we are trying to schedule trains in order to sleep there. Can you recomend some cheap place (preferible camping) in Belgrad or Sofia?
Thanx!!!

sorry, we didnt camp in either sofia or belgrade - hostel mostel is pretty cool in sofia. In general we just looked at peoples reviews on hostel booking websites/asked around at other hostels to see what people recommended.
If you are going to mostar, make sure you stay at majdas rooms...

also, the night trains arent too bad and its not so frustrating when they are very late, at least you can sleep. From Sofia to Istanbul you can get a 3 person sleeper which has its own sink for about £11 I think, and there probably wont be anyone in with you. Waking up as you come into Istanbul is just amazing!
