Good afternoon guys,

Just posting my route for Aug - can you tell me if there are any glaringly obvious things that I've missed or need to be aware of?

Monaco - Nice (Marseilles, Montpellier, Perpignan, Villefranche Vernet, Latour de Carol) - Barcelona - Madrid (Figueres, Cerbere, Perpignan, Montpellier, Valance, Chambery, Modane) - Milan - Venice - Geneva - Lyon - Lille.

Can I just check a few things?

I want to do the Little Yellow train - this is possible with the pass but how early do you think I need to arrive in order to get a seat - do I need to get anything from the ticket office?

I have some seat reservation but are they cheaper if you do them at the station on the day - for example, I have brought my Spanish ones off here, except Fig to Cerbere.

I have been a few times and usually needed to pay 10 euro for the faster trains in Italy - can I check that a reservation isn't needed for Milan to Venice?

Thanks for the help and any comments

Tom

that yellow tain is just like any local train: come and see, stand if too late and too many before you. In high-summer it may have an open car-this will be mobbed-or not.
RES for seats cost the same any time-they cost so little, that discounts make no sense. BUT they MAY differ if bought at other countries as used in
For in IT; its 10 eur for the Hi-speed Freccia something and 3 eur for the slower IC and 0 for the slowest (and not direct ( regionale treni. The routeplanner will mostly show the 10 eur trains MLN-VNZ.

Thank you very much!

Super Economy is 9 euro, where as a seat reservation is 10... could I get that instead?

Hi!

Madrid - Milano via Chambery is not a good idea as the TGV on the route via Chambery are very expensive (55€ reservation for Paris - Milano, I dont know the price for Chambery - Milano).

When you are taking the Petit Train Jaune and are coming from Nice, you have to stay overnight at Perpignan first; when changing at Villefranche you have about 40 minutes, enough time to change and get a seat, even though there might be many other travellers coming from Perpignan/starting their trip in Villefranche.
No extra ticket is required.

Reservations at rail.shop/acprail/reservation are more expensive than at a station, there is nothing we can do about that and we also do not earn a thing through selling these.

Milan - Venice direct trains Frecciabianca require a 10€ reservation. You can also take regional trains with changes of trains at least in Verona without reservations.
If you can get a super economy fare ticket you can of course use that instead of a reservation for your IR ticket.

Thank you! :)
