Hello!
Me again, sorry!
I have a few questions about night train reservation, I'm in France, and with my friends we went at the train station today to make some night train reservation. We coudln't, because they didn't have the access to all train etc etc.
It's quite difficult to do it on the internet so,

1. How about making reservation in the city, once we will be there? like 2 days before taking the train, won't it be quite a risk that the train is full ? Especially in the high season (august), we will take night train between cities like Amsterdam, Berlin, Warsaw, Budapest, Ljubljana, Salzbourg, Florence, etc. What about the prices ? Is there a lot of fees ? (sorry, we are all students, with a limited budget, we are trying to not spend too much)

2. We were wondering about making reservation on railcc, but we saw that there was quite a big difference between the prices display on each train (for ex, for the night train from Zagreb to Munich, the price announced is 20€ for a couchette in a 4 bed compartiment, but on the reservation page, it is 26€), is it because it's the high season or because you include fees ? (or something else)

I said outside Germany because I know that we can book train from or to Germany with the Deutsche Bahn
This is absolutely not a complaint or whatever, we are just wondering why is there such a difference, this website is so useful! thanks for all this great job ! :)

Hi Alex!

1) This is one possibility, yes. Actually, making reservations at train stations still is the standard way if you are travelling with InterRail (online reservation is only available for some kind of trains; also see at 2)). You can never preview when and whether one train will be full or not...this also depends on whether you are travelling alone, as a couple or with a bunch of friends.
Where did you try to get the reservations? Usually it is no problem to get reservations for other countries as well, for instance I can make reservations in Austria for trains in Germany, France, Norway,...sadly sometimes you have bad luck with the people at the station who seem to not know how to make reservations and from here I cannot tell what exactly was the issue at the station where you tried to get your reservations. :(

2) Please note: The reservations at [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux] are provided by our partner ACP, railcc does not earn anything through the sales of these reservations! As you already correctly thought, there are extra fees that make these reservations more expensive than at a station - but there is nothing we can do about it, sorry.
railcc relies on travellers buying their InterRail tickets through [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] to keep all the information as up to date as possible, thank you.

Thanks for your answer! (that's quick!)

we went in Lyon, Part Dieu train station (the biggest one of the city), they actually found some train but not all (we went there with the train number, the date, the location, etc. : all information needed), so they told us that sometimes, they can't make reservation because each train company of each country have their own reservation system and sometimes, reservation are not available in other country, sometimes like that if I understood correctly. She said that they don't have the access for all train

I think we will make some reservation here, on railcc, would you suggest to make all of them online before the trip or taking the risk for some train and wait to be there ? :/

Yes, that can sometimes happen that companies block the access to their reservation system for other countries. :|

Which trains did you think about reserving beforehand online and when and for how many people?

we were thinking about reserving the night train from Amsterdam to Berlin and the one from Munich to Florence to start, then we don't really know, maybe the one from Warsaw to Budapest and the one from Budapest to Ljubljana :)

OK. You can make the reservations Amsterdam - Berlin and München - Rome online at [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
You find a detailed how-to at the night train details of each train, for example: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/amsterdam-prague-cnl457/15
If you think it is too early to leave at Berlin at around 4 in the morning you could make the reservation Amsterdam - Dresden (same price), visit the beautiful old town and return to Berlin around noon/early afternoon. :)

Warsaw - Budapest can be tricky, but is possible at stations (you would have to check at [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux])

Especially for Munich - Rome it makes sense to make the reservation in advance.

There is no regular night train Budapest - Ljubljana, only the seasonal train to Koper: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/budapest-koper-g1246-rg1605/278

Thanks!
We will probably make most of the reservation online then :) It's better to pay a few more euros and have the train than have a difficult time finding one once there, tired and with our luggages ;)

great idea to spend some time in Dresden! I have never been to Germany, but from what I saw on the internet, it looks like a beautiful city :)

You're welcome!

If you want, you can put your luggage in lockers at Dresden stations for a few €€; the city is indeed quite beautiful (see pics below).

Like I said above, it would be great if you'd support the free information and the forum on railcc: Please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Merci! :)

hello again!

We are booking our train, but we can't book the one from Szczecin to Warsaw, it says that it's unavailable etc.
We noticed that we needed to say Wien and not Vienne to book the train from Wien to Prague, maybe we need to key in another name ? or just wait another day ? :)

Where? On rail.shop/acprail/reservation?

I could imaginge that reservations for domestic connections in Poland do not work there in general as they can be quite tricky to get even at a ticket desk...

Hi guys, we just bought our Interrail tickets on railcc!

We are trying to book a reservation for a train from Lisbon to Madrid:
https://rail.cc/en/night-train/lisbon-madrid-th-335/72
This page specifies that we need to pay an integration of 7€, but once we try to make a reservation on railcc the minimum fare seems to be 36€... that's quite a big difference!

We understand that there are some extra fees but... 29€? Are we missing something?

Hi!

Thanks for supporting! Please send us your order ID via personal mail to upgrade your account to Premium. :)

For what date have you been looking? As explained above, the fares on rail.shop/acprail/reservation are higher than when buying reservations at a station, but I also get regular seats for 11€, as well as 4bed sleepers for 36€.

I don't know what happened, but now I can see the same option.
Thanks anyway!
