Hi there!

I'm planning to do my first Interrail this summer, and I would like to travel from Cork to Belfast. As Belfast belongs to the UK, I was wondering if my pass would be right to do the trip from Dublin to Belfast or if, otherwise, I'd have to buy the GENERAL PASS.

All your confirmations or help will be so wellcome :)

Thank you

Are you Irish? if yes, cannot use this pass.
YOu have to pay the sector Border-Belf, (I think, as info on what is or what not for IE/UK is very dificult to understand, it might be that North ireland is included with IE-republic), assuming that people at CIE/IR are even able to get that out of their hardware. BUT if you can preplan/prebook, an advance ticket Du-BF might be cheaper as that. And it certainly is cheaper to use any of the many buses, that are quicker too as train.
Also note that if you are from the continent and want to see IE-there are local offers that may work out cheaper and certainly offermore flexibilty and some also include the buses, as trains are quite sparse in IE. There are also for IE + NI

Hi nltrainer

Thank you for your answer! In fact I'm not Irish, I'm from Barcelona.

So,then I see you do not recommend the train pass for Ireland, don't you?

Regarding trains, does the one country pass include Belfast (UK)??

Thank you all a lot again,

Hi!

The One Country Pass for Ireland also includes Northern Ireland.

It is best to compare fares of the IR pass and regular tickets, you can do the latter at http://irishrail.ie
If you choose InterRail, support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

Hey there, bit late commenting on this sorry.

Am I dont know about the belfast to dublin train but it shouldnt be too expensive.

But I would most certainly not get the train from Dublin to Cork. It is WAY too expensive and a 1 country pass for ireland is not worth it. The network is designed in such a way as it would only make sense if you were in dublin and going on day trips, you cannot go up the coasts with rail.

I would recommend you to use the GOBE or Go Bus Eireann buses which are about 15euro to Cork and they only take 2.5hours. train would be 30 and take 3hrs. Then from Cork if you want to go up west coast the number 51bus serves most places of use the City link bus service which is private and cheaper to go to limerick or Galway. just be sure to pre book the tickets online they are cheaper than off the driver. I highly recommend cork and galway, oh and my home are of Clare for the cliffs of moher hehe, message me for anything else you need
