Hello there,

I plan to go from Colmar or Freiburg to Munich, by train. I shall be using the BAHN regional passes and think of doing this in 2 days with a stop over in Ulm. As I may use freely local trains from 9am on, what I want are suggestions of cities on the way where to pass a few hours in between.

I've thought of Baden-Baden which is in one of the routes, or Titisee in another route, but I am quite open to suggestions. Maybe there are simple stops just to watch some beautiful view or a piece of architecture worth seeing like a church or monastery.

I'd be glad to consider any suggestions.

Cheers from Rio,
Roger

Hi Roger.
You have different options.
The Quer durchs Land Ticket during the week, the Schönes Wochenende Ticket during weekends (but often full trains then). Or the Baden-Würtemberg Ticket and the Bayern Ticket. All for regional trains, valid from 09:00h in the morning until usually 03:00h at the next morning.
I would skip Baden-Baden. In my eyes not that special. If you want to go to the one famous Spa (forgot the name), it is fine. You could add Rothenburg ob der Tauber: https://rail.cc/en/rothenburg-ob-der-tauber/c
In Schwäbisch-Gemünd you have currently Landesgartenschau: https://rail.cc/en/schwaebisch-gmuend/c
Nuremberg and Regensburg are also nice and old historic cities. Würzburg is also good to visit.
Peter :)

you can also simply buy 2 landestickets-cheaper as QdL, AND you have then also most local buses etc in towns you stop. IF you make the nitestop in Ulm, day1-Bayern and day2_ bad/Wuertt.
OR can often do very cheap as there are now so many cheap BUses MUC=Freibg, like on DB itself, also meinfernbus, flix=use fahrtfuchs or busliniensuche.de. Often possible for les as 15 eur.
