Hello everyone :)

I was looking for a connection between Nice and Montpellier, in France. And I found a connection with the TRN train, which I don't know what it is and says that reservation is required. I thought that only TGV has required reservations... So, in this case, how do I make this reservation, having the interrail pass?

Thank you for your help!!

Hi!

If it is a direct train, TRN translates to a Intercités train with compulsory reservation with the same conditions as TGV trains: 9€ regular reservation fare with limited availability.
What time and date have you been looking for?

Well, I have to make the reservation as soon as I arrive to France, since we cannot reserve it outside of France :((

Thank you again for all your clarification! :D

You could also look for connections with regional trains (TER) only which are not a lot slower...but may run only at other times during the day.
Also reservation from abroad should work in principle, depending on in which country you want to reserve (for instance, I could get the reservation here in Austria).

I tried to do that with the TGV between Paris and Irún. And the portuguese company said to me that they have blocked the system, which they also do several times without any warning... Mainly in this time of the year. But I'll look for those TER :)

Hi.
For TGV reservations in France you can also have a look at [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf/reservation[/ux]
To support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

Hi Peter. That site allow us to make reservations outside France, but not in all of the countries. I'm from Portugal and I can't make the reservation. However, I put the option of Germany, just for curiosity, and the option Interrail Global Pass became available. Paris-Nice, 2 people, 36€. So, I will have to buy it as soon as I arrive to France.

Anyway, thank you for your clarification :)

Hi Luís.
You are free to buy your reservation wherever you want. And yes, I know you are from Portugal. And also being from Portugal, you can buy your reservation online via the given link. I'm sure you will find out how. :)

Select other countries, then click on train > book your train ticket. Now you should be able to select InteRail Global Pass in the season ticket section. :)
