I am a Brit planning a European train tour with my Chinese girlfriend. I understand we'll need different passes, the InterRail for me and Eurail or RE for her. However, is there any way to book/reserve together? I can't imagine that we would both need to book completely separately and independently from each other. We have so many routes planned that individual booking would be a nightmare and the chances of a screw up inevitable. Having searched the various websites it seems that there is no way... Please someone tell me there is. Thanks.

Hi.
If you Chinese friend stayed more than 6 months on the first day of travel in an European country, she can also buy an Interrail pass - she has to prove the residence in Europe by official documents.
It is no problem to travel together, one person with Interrail, the other with Eurail. But RE is NOT a rail pass, it is the name of a company. Interrail and Eurail are just products. You can buy them at different places... like you can buy milk in different supermarkets. :)
To support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] , the Eurail pass via [ux]https://rail.shop/eurail[/ux]
Thank you! :)
Note: Eurail is not valid in every country Interrail is valid.
To resume: you can sit together in trains and also use the same compartments in night trains. :)

Thanks for the information and clarification Peter. However, I asked the wrong question. I understand that I will need to buy an InterRail pass for me and a Eurail pass for my girlfriend. Ok, so now we have the passes, we need to start reserving seats. For example, if the first leg of our journey is from Bordeaux to Nice, I need to reserve 1x InterRail seat and 1x Eurail seat, right? But how do I do this? From web searches it seems that this can only be done in person at the train station or by phone, nothing online. So, if I have 10x individual connections across 6 countries, do I really have to phone various different companies and reserve them all one by one, hoping that by the end they’re all available? Because, if one or two are not available, I may need to change destinations which would completely change the whole itinerary. Have I misunderstood the process?

Hi.
Some trains you have to reserve, some not.
But you can buy the reservations TOGETHER. No need to buy ONE Interrail and ONE Eurail. You finally just need RAIL PASS reservations. If you go to a ticket window, they should know it an help you.
The reservation for Bordeaux to Nice is available at railway stations in France or as well online at [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux] for example. Note: online booking is sometimes a bit more expensive due to handling fees. As the reservation tool we offer here via our partner ACP is just service for the users who supported railcc with their rail pass purchase. We do not earn a cent with it.
Please just let me know your order-IDs of your rail pass purchases in the railcc shop and the route you want to travel. Then I'm happy to tell you all options you have. On most routes in Europe you can avoid reservations and you have alternative routes. :)
Best example is for example the one crossing the Alps. You can travel the standard way and pay extra, or travel the much more scenic route and it is free (but usually you won't find it in online schedule planers): https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/
