Hi there,
As our trip is coming close we have a question about the following. When we searched for a connection from Köln to Vienna, railcc only came up with a few options. However, if we go to the website of DB, there are many more options.
Option railcc:
Köln Hbf Do, 19.06.14 ab 05:53 7 ICE 23 Intercity-Express
Option DB
Köln Hbf Do, 19.06.14 ab 06:55 5 ICE 101 Intercity-Express
Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Do, 19.06.14 07:50 Fern 5
Umsteigezeit 12 Min.
Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Fernbf Do, 19.06.14 ab 08:02 Fern 5 ICE 23
Now our question is, which option would be better? Since the second option, which takes an hour less, is not on the website of railcc, is it a useful one? Also, if we have to switch trains at Frankfurt, will we have to book two reservations?

Hi Mathew.
There are of course more connections available as presented on railcc. We can not list all train connections available. Simply impossible. If we would get more support by users of railcc (purchase their Interrail tickets via the railcc partner link), we could also offer more information. But for now, we show only selected ones. It is up to you to decide which one you want to take. :)
There is no need to make a reservation using day trains on Cologne to Vienna, you can use all trains free, without reservation. If you avoid peak travel times such as Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon/evening, you will easily find a seat.
To support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

Thanks very much for the quick reply, Peter! We will definitely help railcc in all ways we can. I'll let you know if there are more questions ;)

ICE 23 has the advantage of being a direct train where you do not have the risk of missing the connection in Frankfurt Flughafen (which is not a common thing but can happen) and you can also enjoy the scenic travel along the Rhine valley (sit on the left).
