chosen these because of the route my boyfriend and I are taking, but is it worth going to frankfurt? i've heard it's rather industrialised. obviously berlin would be interesting for the wall, but is there anything else besides that and nightlife? is the nightlife that amazing anyway...?! i've been to bonn and koblenz before which were more rural so something a bit different would be nice (though i am about 8 years older now...) it's a choice between frankfurt and berlin purely for the route but could there be another city/town worth visiting? we're not as keen on germany as other countries (even though it's one of the languages I know which is a help!) hence choosing between rather than adding.

Travel to Berlin.
In Berlin you will find a perfect night-life, just ask at your hostel (better to stay there in a hostel, as you will meet there a lot of people from all over the world)...!! :)
You will find big discotheques, small clubs, pubs, soooo much to do and see ...! :)
About cultural things... a lot to see in Berlin. Frankfurt is as well interesting but if you have to decide between these two cities, go to Berlin.

cool thanks! i'd kinda made up my mind anyway after speaking to a friend who's just got back from berlin and even though it's a cliche, seeing the wall would be fantastic. when i saw the wall in northern ireland it was so amazing, so berlin would be too! thinking of a stop off in antwerp now instead of frankfurt. anyone have any ideas on that? i know this is the germany thread but no ones answered so far on the benelux forums...

Antwerp is a very nice city I heard, but also Brugge, Gent and don't forget Leuven. The last one is THE student city of Belgium with about 25% of it's inhabitents are students. It's also pretty priced because it's a student city.

my boyfriend is totally against bruge. i'm trying to get him to watch the new film coming out so he can see how pretty bruge is! but as i've been there already i'm not too bothered. thanks
