Hey :)

My boyfriend and I are planning on going interrailing for 21 days in July for the first time. The route I have planned is as follows:

Dublin - Vienna - Salzburg (for Electric Love music festival)
Salzburg - Ljubljana/Lake Bled
Ljubljana - Venice (is it possible to get here via train? Also is it expensive in Venice?)
Venice - Zagreb - Split (I read before that there are no train lines to Split. What is the cheapest/fastest way to get there?)
Split - Belgrade
Bekgrade - Budapest
Budapest - Krakow
Krakow - Prague
Prague - Dublin

Is this a realistic route for the time that we have? Also, it would be very helpful if anyone knew of the best transport routes to get between destinations, where we should expect extra reservation charges etc. Are there any places in my route that people would advise against visiting? And also how long we would need in certain places?
We basically want an interrail trip with a good mix of culture, fun and good nightlife.

Any information would be of great help
Thanks in advance :D

Hi.
How do you want to get from Dublin to Vienna... by train or plane?
Please have a look here: https://rail.cc/en/first-time-interrail

Train connections: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
General train schedules: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

Travel from Salzburg directly to Venice: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/salzburg-to-venice
Venice is mmmh... let's say okay. Expensive and full of tourists. I personally don't like to stay there.

Italy (Venice) to Slovenia (Lake Bled/Ljubljana): https://rail.cc/blog/travel-lake-bled-train/
It's free for Interrailers.

Zagreb to Split: where did you read that there are no train lines to Split?
Have a look here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/zagreb-to-split

From Split you could continue by inexpensive bus to Dubrovnik and then on to Montenegro.
From there (for example Bar) if possible by day train to Belgrade (see photos): https://rail.cc/en/interrail/bar-to-belgrade

Or from Split in direction of Mostar by bus, then on to Sarajevo and again by inexpensive bus to Belgrade.

Connections for these two options via the link I gave you at the top.

The rest (Belgrade - ... - Prague) is easy to do, see also the link at the top.

And to support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

Peter :)
