Hello!
Firs-time poster here on railcc. I am interested in traveling a bit through Central/Eastern Europe this July. I've read some of the routes listed here and they seem like great options!
The main cities we'd like to visit during our trip are Prague Vienna and Budapest. We'd be finishing the trip in Croatia where we'll meet some friends. That said, I have a questions you could perhaps help me out with.
I live in Montpellier, France. As I understand Interrail conditions, I'd have to leave France before I can start using the pass, correct? Or is there a way for me to use the Interrail to catch a train leaving the country?
Moreover, are there any suggestions you might want to offer regarding the route itself? It's an area of the world I have never visited, so this itinerary is completely flexible. If you believe the order should be altered, or some destinations added/removed (so long as we end up in Croatia and get to see Prague), your thoughts would be more than welcome!
On a (somewhat) unrelated closing note: how hard would it be to move by train from Croatia to Milan? If possible, once the trip is definitively over, I'd like to part ways with the group and join some other friends in Milan. Rail or flight?
Thanks in advance! And please accept my sincerest apologies if this had already been addressed in the forums or if I somehow breached one of your rules.

Hi.
It depends on the date you travel, but have a look to get a special price ticket for the night train Montpellier to Strasbourg - does not run daily, but should in July: [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf[/ux]
From Strasbourg you could cross the border via Kehl to Offenburg (~ EUR 5) - and in Germany you start with your Interrail pass. From Offenburg via Karlsruhe to Nuremberg (nice stop as well here) and then on to Prague: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail/nuremberg-to-prague
Before Prague you could include as well Berlin if you like. After Prague you could go to Krakow.
From Prague or Krakow on to Vienna. I wouldn't stop that long in Bratislava or even skip it.
Budapest is nice - ask in your hostel for the pub tour in the old ruins. Very nice locations in old houses there in Budapest. :)
Budapest to Croatia is easy. You could stop at Lake Balaton.
Schedules here: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
General ones here: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
There are ferries from Croatia to Italy: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-ferry/croatia/hr
If you book train tickets several days in advance, you can get good prices: [ux]https://rail.shop/omio[/ux] (e-tickets available).
From Italy cross the border at Ventimiglia, home to Montpellier. You can book tickets at [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf[/ux]
To support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] - and the point to point tickets as well via the links given above. Same price for you, but you help! Thank you! :)
