Hi there,

I want to travel through Europe with my wife beginning at 15 August until 30 August (15 days total)

Route: Amsterdam (start) - Berlin - Prague - Krakow - Budapest - Wien - Venice (last stop, stay in Italy for the rest of the days and fly back from somewhere in Italy)

Alternative Route (skip Krakow): Amsterdam (start) - Berlin - Prague - Wien - Budapest - Venice (last stop, stay in Italy for the last 5 days and fly back from somewhere in Italy)

Ticket: 5 Days in 10 Days

My questions
1- Which route is better? Am I being too optimistic for the route with Krakow?

2- I want to travel the first 10 days and then stay in Italy for the last 5 days and then fly back to Amsterdam. should I spend last 5 days in Venice ? or should i stay in Venice for 2 days and then end in Rome and fly back from there?

3- Are there good beaches in Venice ? if not, where in the neighbour

Or if you have any alternative(similar) route feel free to post them.
Thanks in advance guys

@1. What means best for you? Both routes are feasible, but via Krakow I count 6 trips-unless you only change in Wien. You think of travel overnight or not? Be active and check current possible timings with the routeplanner.
@2. In hot summer VNZ is horrendously overcrowded by daytrippers-to the extent the very few remaining Italiano want to barrage their own city to prevent in being overrun by even more onlookers. Its even much worse as the Dam in AMS on 2nd easter or Pinksterday.

Hi!

1) You can include Krakow, I personally would do it althought I havent been there yet. However, you would then need to buy a separate ticket all the way from Amsterdam to Berlin since you would need the five travel days for the following trips. You can buy that ticket online at either [ux]https://rail.shop/nsinternational[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] and support our work - same prices for you! :)
If you choose to go with route two and skip Krakow, I would go Prague - Budapest - Wien and then to Venice, the connections from Wien are much better than those from Budapest (the latter usually take you through Wien so its no point to go to Budapest after Wien).

2) Personally, I would not stay 5 days in Venice - much too expensive and crowded. Rome is a fantastic city and even though there are lots of tourists as well it is definitely worth going to!
You can get good fares for single tickets at [ux]https://rail.shop/italo[/ux] or look at [ux]https://rail.shop/omio[/ux] (the Italo trains are the latest generation of high speed trains in Europe, worth a try!) ;)
You might even think about this option, getting the max out of your last travel day of the 5in10 ticket: Take the night train from Vienna to Rome and get off the train at Florence early in the morning. Store your luggage at the station and enjoy the city waking up, without loads of tourists. In the afternoon, get your luggage and travel with regional trains without a reservation via Bologna to Venice.

3) You should look for the Lido de Venezia with looong beaches (and even a campsite); however you have to get Vaporetto (water taxi) tickets to get there which are not exactly cheap.

To support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

PS: Another interesting detour could be travelling through the Swiss Alps: Take the night train from Vienna to Zurich and get off the train at Sargans (or Zurich if you want to sleep longer), then travel this route to Milan: https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/
From Milan you can still reach Venice in the evening, either by direct Frecciabianca train (10€ reservation) or using regional trains.
